Beers even during happy hour not much cheaper, food is really bad, and (being German) I have to say that it does not have much in common with authentic German food. But I think the worst was that the restaurant was filled with flies - I am sure they did not stay out of the kitchen. So: STAY AWAY from this less than mediocre place!!

In such an expensive city with so many so-so places to eat we stumbled on this place on our last day in New York and wow, what a great place. The $10 special was amazing... great food, great service and great value. Thanks a bunch.

This isn't the best German place in the city. The food isn't great but it's alright - it's cheap and it's basically what you pay for. I bought the currywurst and it tastes pretty crap compared to the ones I had in the real Berlin. Anyways, if inexpensive is what you're looking for = highly recommend it.

My daughter came from Hamburg and having seen a TV show a couple of weeks before her trip in this place she wanted to go there and eat. What a disappointment!!! the decor is cheap although they do have German posters on the walls. the waitress who said she was German and was in NY for only about 6 weeks had a hard time with the language (yes the German language) the food was nothing like the German fare i remember or she has had in Hamburg. The Schnitzels' were like cardboard and the sauces complimented them. The beer was cold.

This is an inexpensive joint, but the service is abysmal and the food less than average. Avoid it like the plague!

We (a group of four friends) decided to check out this place - without any expectations. We spend a great night at this Restaurant and I can not complain at all. This location might not be a place to take your date but it's definetly a place to hang out with your friends and have a good time with some real good german food and booze (the prices are reasonable by the way). Our waitress gave us great service, nothing to complain about (she was a real cutie too). We definetly will come back for another visit.

We went to Hallo Berlin yesterday. My Jaegerschnitzel was probably a 3 oz piece of pork pounded to 1/10 of an inch thickness and then breaded. It was very tough. I still don't know what kind of gravy they poured on top. I am German and this was anything but a Jaegersauce. It appeared to be a cheese sauce with little mushroom and a sprinkle of curried ketchup on top. Also, the spaetzle must have been cooked earlier and then fried in a pan. Again, not authentic German. One of the sausages my friend had was supposed to be a Berliner Currywurst, yet it was a simple Bratwurst, no curry powder and no ketchup on top. The sausages tasted not bad, but frying a sausage is not rocket science. One more thing, the tap beer was very good, but a little pricey, $8 for a 16oz mug. The beer was the only authentic German thing in this place. I will definitely not go back and can't recommend this place to anyone.

I'm not German but that's not the problem. I've had the wursts and the pickled herring. To me they're fine. I like the way they put sauerkraut and cooked red cabbage on the wursts. The only problem I have is the roll is too small. I don't care if it might be authentic, It's too small to accommodate what's on it and it's very tricky to eat without stuff falling off. They have some high priced German beers also.

Service excellent. You gotta love those two girls working there - very friedly. Food is good just like in Germany. Gotta see the beer garden, they have a real piece of german wall.

I grew up in Berlin, Germany and came to this country in 1969 and I have to say that the food here is really quite good. The inside reminds me of a typical biergarten atmosphere. If you like you can also eat outdoors. The food is a great value and quite authentic tasting. If you're looking for a restaurant type atmosphere than this is not for you but this is perfect for a casual night out. I highly recommend the Weissebier.
