Great option in the neighborhood

Simple and straight food offer of the greatest American classics, great quality and very nice service for a decent price in a neighborhood where it is hard to find a decent place for lunch without spending a fortune. Despite going on a Wednesday at 1PM, I managed to get a table for 5 very easily and the place was not excessively crowded/noisy.

Stop Flailing

Why 34 people found this helpful, dont flail your arms in a restaurant!This critical mistake was enough for you to "flail" your arms? And you realize of course that many mistakes are the flailing customers fault. Maybe your practice flailing was enough to distract the captain(not a waiter at Harrys) from correctly discovering the all important vegetable decision of the evening. Please people read your reviews before writing, A good stanby-meal, no longer because three attempts to please you where not enough. And you'll show them by not flapping your arms in their restaurant again, good riddance.

Best Unpretentious Steakhouse

Harry's consistently delivers on quality and service in a downright homey way, while masquerading as a stuffy steakhouse. I dine here frequently, and I have to say that we love the service (Daniel in particular) and coziness of the place. While it certainly isn't cheap, I defy you to leave without a doggy bag. They are willing to make any special request, and trust me, we are picky! Plus, how fun is it to go have a fantastic steak dinner and then go round to the Cafe next door for some live music and a killer bar scene.

Not what it used to be

For the time I have lived in the Financial District, Harry's has always been a good standby for a nice meal. Good food and not too expensive. But times are a' changing. On this most recent trip, my steak was overcooked and even though I had requested sauteed spinach, they brought creamed. After considerable arm flailing, I managed to get the waiter and he promised swift rectification. On take two, the spinach was more salt baked than sauteed. Completely inedible. I flailed again and finally got the waiter. Take three, which took forever, the spinach was just soggy leaves with little taste. At the end of the meal, when the waiter mock scolded me about not eating it, and I explained that it lacked any taste, he was unsympathetic to say the least. He also explained that what I considered oversalted had actually been a garnish of pink Hawaiian salt. Right... Needless to say, we declined dessert and won't be returning to Harry's, RIP.
