Met a few friends there this week. It was way too crowded for the space (felt like I was at a kegger) and while I don't mind that in a divebar - I thought this place was supposed to be upscale or something. I assume it must be the buzz of a new place because it just wasnt that memorable. Drink selection was nice but there was no real food yet (is it a restaurant or a bar?) and the inside is kinda cheap and simple. Maybe it will improve but for now there just are better places nearby.

May be better than when NY Mag review was posted

I've had the beef Wellington and talked to a friend who had it, and in both cases it was cooked perfectly - different experiences from that of the NY Mag. reviewer. The ambiance is really exceptional: wood, candle light; a modern gastropub. Good beers and drinks, enjoyable food. I felt that I was getting more for my money compared with similarly priced restaurants. One bartender was clueless (maybe you ought to learn the common whiskey drinks prior to your first day of work?) but I've been back twice and plan to go again.

Arrived for a few drinks on a rainy Saturday. The Scottish craft beer had travelled oh so well, and the cocktails were unique and perfectly mixed. Service was friendly without being intrusive and the decor just capped off a fantastic evening, especially the Stag. I feel I will become a regular here.

Totally love this place, very well played Scottish joint where they really take new paths with the abysmal history of Scottish food. The bar is great for just drinks and the dining is great but get there early as its not big and can be fully booked in no time. The food is really delicious and the scotch drinks make it even better.

headed in here with friends on a friday evening. amazing service from our waiter Andrew who explained some of the quirky interiors and set-up of this new spot. food was fantastic - salmon, oysters and lamb shank were exquisite. returned this week to sample more and will definitely be a regular for winter comfort foods.

Highands was a terrrific choice for our Christmas celebrations. The staff were extremely helpful to accomodate our needs, attentive and the food was devine. Great atmosphere, authentically Scottish, and superb cocktails meant for a fabulous night. The odd kilt was a bonus too !

This is a great spot. Charming and quaint in a hip Scottish way. I was just in Soho, in London, and one of the staff at Dean Street Townhouse was raving about the great time she had here. I couldn't agree more! The staff is lovely, atmosphere is hip and the food is delicious. What more can you ask for!?! Totally recommend it. Enjoy!!

Fantastic brunch

My boyfriend took me here for my birthday and their brunch was amazing! The cocktails were great, the food was excellent. Smaller portions but filling and you really get the sense that it's not only cooked but crafted. We got dessert too and it was fantastic (if they still have the butter cake on the menu, definitely go for that). The decor is great- a modern take on traditional scottish with cute touches (salt and pepper shakers in the shape of black and white scottie dogs wearing tam o shanters!). The waiter was funny and attentive. Seriously, if I lived closer I'd be here every weekend and I'm not even a "brunch" person.
