The ribs at the Hog Pit are to die for! They are tender, moist, fall off the bone, and just melt in your mouth. The BBQ sauce is amazing -- full of body and flavor. It goes perfectly with the ribs. The pulled pork is the best I have ever had, by far. Again, it is moist, enhanced by the sauce, and just plain impossible to stop eating. The sides, aaahhhhh, the sides..... Perfect collard greens, delicious mashed potatoes, perfect mac and cheese. So difficult to pick from all the things I love in this place. No better BBQ in the South, and certainly not in the NY area. The decor is interesting and thematic, and complements the food quite well. And while many vegetarians might not be willing to give up their dietary preferences, there are tons of meat-free sides here for them!

I went with my father, a meat eater for life and myself a vegetarian and we each had incredible meals! That's extremely rare for BBQ. The flavors of each dish pop in your mouth without being overwhelmingly too sweet like other BBQ joints. I can't wait to go back with my friends.

I have no idea what these reviewers are thinking. Perhaps they went to the wrong restaurant. The food is great. The portions are more than generous, the meat is juicy and succulent, and they are famous for their mac and cheese. I definitely recommend the hog pit to anyone looking for some good barbecue and large portions!

I am not sure who the previous reviewers were, but they are nuts! I have never had a bad meal at the Hog Pit. The BBQ is delicious and the sides are to die for!!!! I travel to NY just for the collard greens...and I'm from the South!!! The fish, ribs and chicken have always been juicy and delicious. Definitely worth the trip....and don't forget the cheese grits.
