TERRIBLE SERVICE. I am writing my first yelp review just to complain about the night this evening. Food was lovely as was the atmosphere....but the way we were treated was outrageous. Rushed the whole meal and then kicked out for another reservation which was an outrage with no warning when we had a reservation for a group. When I discretely told the server that we were displeased she was incredibly defensive and made it worse. I will be calling tomorrow to speak to a manager. They cannot treat customers that way - there are plenty of "cool" restaurants and they ruined a special occasion evening.

As is befitting of a West Village eatery, it was small and loud but the chatter was nonexistent once the food arrived. I had the hangar steak and it was everything a well cooked steak should be. My fiance had the duck breast and that too was immaculate. If I could, I'd eat there every week.

We took my father here for his birthday a few months ago and it was perfect! The service was nice and attentive, and I had no trouble making a reservation. The cocktails were all delicious, we each tried two different ones so we pretty much covered the whole cocktail menu, there are plenty to pick from to suit any palate. Three of us ordered the duck and I have to say we weren't disappointed. The skin was crispy, though it might have been a little fatty it kept the meat moist which is the most important part. The sides were also all excellent. The shaved brussels sprouts were heavenly. Dessert was equally wonderful, though not terribly exciting. All-in-all I really enjoyed the place and the atmosphere, and the fact that it's not nearly as pretentious as some other "secret" bars.

The reviews on here are mostly positive, so perhaps the place has recently gone downhill or I was there on an off night, but I found the food here to be terrible. I tried a special seafood appetizer that was disjointed and made up of ingredients that didn't quite go, a tasteless fish dish, duck so overcooked that it was gray, and rice so undercooked that it was inedible. I also didn't like how the cocktails were served in water glasses and with little ice - they became warm very fast. The setting is lovely, especially outside, and the service and dessert were fine though.

Nice place, cool atmosphere, decent food

After reading all reviews I decided to experience it for myself, so a few friends and I went there to dinner last night. The atmosphere is great, the service was really good too, the food was ok, sorry. I mean, nothing bad with it, but it wasn't the magnificent meal that I had anticipated after seeing that it was critic's pic and all these great reviews. The appetizers, the trout and the crab bruschetta, were both good, but not great. I then ordered the steak and my husband ordered the pork, and my brother the duck. The duck was definitely the best, tender and juicy; my steak was fine, a bit too much kale for my taste, and the pork I think was in the dry side.... So overall, cool place to go to and bring people to, but if you are a foodie, you might not be as excited as expected... There was not one thing that I tried that I thought was brilliant, all good, but not amazing

Not only is the location ideal for those of us living downtown (away from tourists, etc.), the decor is beautiful and simple, the staff is knowledgeable, and the food is just as good or better than some of the top rated restaurants with big chef names. I love this spot for groups of friends as well as dates. There is a private room downstairs perfect for intimate gatherings.

Excellent kitchen & great value--I had the duck as recommended and was glad I did, and the vissysoise. My companion had the fish;he was also pleasantly surprised. Surprised because the place was jammed and remained so. It seemed to me too crowded for fine dining, but that was a misassumption. The staff was extremely good natured and professional and remained that way with no apparent effort even after I argued with them about where to seat us. (they won.) Last but not least, the wine by the glass was a really good one, and it only cost $9. So I had 3. We should have just bought a bottle.
