I have been there a couple of times. Although the food is pretty good and the place has a nice look, the service sucks. The wait staff is rude, and get orders wrong a lot. If that's not bad enough, they include an 18% gratuity for this horrible service. I won't be going back anytime soon.

Have been there twice and experience just keeps getting better. Fantastic sunset menu deal and food is scrumptious. Do not understand why there is such a bad review on this site, must've been an exceptionally bad day. They even play live music on weekdays. Decor is great even though lower level tends to get a little too crowded when full.

the waiter service sucked and the food could have been better the crab cakes tasted burn and the mac and cheese taste like it came from the box.

The food was good and the decor was trendy. However, when we first walked in we had to wait for the hostess to finish a personal phone call. She asked how many, we said two. She told us to wait in minute. (it was not crowded at all) She walked over to the bar, spoke with a few patrons (we waited) and then came back to seat us. It literally took 15 minutes between her phone call and her chat at the bar. Very unprofessional. After that, the waitress and busser? (I cannot call a grown man a busboy) were great. Would go back again.

Want to dine in close proximity to a six lane NYC highway complete with soot, foul air, and a noisy Amtrak rail line, and not to forget the homeless people outside that will encourage valet parking? This is the place for you! This location is so bad that the above average food and friendly service are overshadowed by all the negative distractions. Most of the crowd is of the plastic variety also trying way too hard "to be seen". I will not return.

My date and I were excited to try the Hudson River Cafe after she determined that Dinosaur was a bad choice for someone who had given up meat for lent. The menu had a decent selection - especially the appetizer menu. We ordered the crab cakes and lobster quesadilla for appetizers and split the tofu veggie plate entree. The crab cakes were excellent! The quesadilla was good, but not crispy enough for our liking. The veggie platter (tofu) was good, but the portions were small. The waiter or waitress (I am not certain of the gender) was very polite, but not the best at his/her job (and mind you, it wasn't busy, so that can't be used as an excuse). For example, a good 10 minutes went by before he/she brought milk for the now luke warm coffee. Getting the check was work! We had to flag down the maitre de, who tried hard to ignore us, to get us the check so that we could leave.
