I had been to I Coppi once and was charmed by the garden even though the food was so so. Since the garden is open all year round I decided to make a reservation when my family was in town. However the hostess was so shockingly rude to me that I canceled my reservation by the end of our conversation. It left such a bad taste in my mouth that I'll never go back.

I went with my husband on a date and it was perfect. Wonderful ambiance, food was hearty and good and the prices were really reasonable. Have been there several times since. The garden is where you want to eat though.
Nice Atmosphere, Cheap Ingredients

The decor is wonderful and sets high expectations. The rustic italian menu sounds great, but sadly the food disappoints - I suspect lots of cheap ingredients used that cut corners. I'm used to well-sourced food, and for these prices and environment you'd expect as much. I ordered the pea soup, and you'd expect a house signature the way the menu describes and instead it was rather bland. My dates burrata caprese salad was rather flat in flavor. My branzino fish wasn't very fresh either. My companion's steak entree was well cooked, but the accompanying parmesan cheese tasted like the olive garden. Well, you get the point. Nothing was bad, just a bit bland. Hoped for more...Too many other great italian restaurants in the east village.

This place was wonderful! The food was perfect, the atmosphere was sweet, I went on a date here, and we both loved it! Skip over the last couple of reviews as this place is truly worth a try. I'm a huge critique of any Italian food, as it's hard to live up to generations of home cooked Italian. This place lived up to it, I'd say. Great date spot, I'd bring my dad here, I'd bring my grandma here, I'd bring a friend here. The service was excellent! Quiet, good wine list, great food an service, what more can you ask for.

I was excited totry this place. Its an adorable place and the garden is perfect. However, the food was horrible. My seafood dish was inedible so was my dates steak. We wont be going back.

Really bad- underseasoned and overcooked food. Horrible, horrible bread and inedible broccoli rabe. Worst of all was that my friend ordered a ricotta and pesto ravioli and what arrived at the table was a mix of seafood ravioli and ricotta ravioli. She is deathly allergic, so we were outraged. Waitress was nice until she disappeared when we complained and got another 3 waiters who didn't seem to understand the gravity of the situation. The restaurant is operating at some seriously low standards. Don't be fooled by cute twinkly lights and their faux italian decor. Don't go

I thought I Coppi was wonderful. I have been there 3 times- twice on a date and once with my family. Although the service was a little slow, the quality of food and atmosphere more than make up for it. From the fig and goat cheese appetizer to the most moist and delicious pork to the duck with roasted pears, I definitely give this restaurant two thumbs up! Whether you go on a warm spring day and enjoy the backyard garden or want to feel warm and cozy next to the brick oven, this restaurant is great for groups or for a romantic dinner for two.

I began with a side of baked fennel. It was smothered in a white sauce, which all but obliterated the vegetable's distinctive flavor. The fish stew arrived on a plate unappealingly blanketed with a thick dark red sauce. The only barely-recognizable ingredient was a crab leg, and the shrimp were overcooked and mealy. The entire unappetizing mess was bland, making it the most forgettable fish stew I'd ever tasted. My companion seemed to enjoy the bronzina. The ambience is pleasant and the service was quite good, as was the wine. Doubt if I'll return, though.

The service was almost absent. The food, so-so, and didn't at all live up to its billing. The pesto dish was a little unusual in ingredients, but ho-hum in execution and taste. The gorgonzola and pear appetizer was a major disappointment, with unripe pears and unflavored gorgonzola.
