It was quite a disappointing meal. The pasta tasted like leftovers. It was smothered in olive oil to hide an otherwise completely unremarkable preparation. It tasted stale and reheated. The snapper was all skin and no fish. The duck came with a pleasant polenta, but the duck it self was overcooked (not medium rare as the waiter said they prepare it) and gristly. And goodness, I love salt, but the shaker must have popped open and the entire bottle of salt fallen onto the duck. Nearly inedible. Dessert was better left not discussed. Plain and shockingly tasteless (as in bland rather than say pornographic) If intent on braving the mediocre food, one tip: there were two hostesses, the blond seems confused and un-adept, the brunette who sat us (after the other got confused)was very pleasant. The wine was good (a Sicilian white) and the staff kept the glasses filled.

I know it was a crowded Thursday night but I was disappointed that my promised patio table was not available.
Besides bad seating , several of the specials were not available (come on no more meatballs!) , food was delivered at different times and not hot , service was spotty etc etc
The drinks were good but were served in glasses slightly larger than a shot glass!
Overall very disappointing and not a good value.

Trulli Disappointing

We went to this restaurant as a party of 6, and we were appalled at the poor service we received. It took 25 minutes seated to finally receive menus, and longer to finally be greeted by our waiter (whom we never saw again after he took our order). The service was so slow during the meal, and one person did not receive his meal until 10 minutes after the rest of the party. The food was average at best - there is definitely better Italian available in NYC. We were never asked if we would like dessert... and when we finally asked for our check, it took over 30 minutes to receive it. We finally complained to the management - and they were surprisingly arrogant and gruff towards us. Overall, a Trully Disappointing meal.

I nervously brought my family to i Trulli, since I didn’t think anything in NY could match the simplicity and flavor of the food in Puglia, where we vacationed last summer. i Trulli proved me wrong. The atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door is cozy and friendly. The staff are extremely welcoming and attentive. The wine list is quite simply with wines from all 20 regions in Italy.
The food was absolutely fantastic. We had practically all of the appetizers, and none disappointed. The grilled baby octopus with fennel and orange was the standout but it's a hard choice to side with just one dish. The pastas - handmade by the owner's mother - are quite simply perfect. Probably among the best pasta I have ever eaten.
We only had a few entrees because everyone wanted pasta, but the wild boar was fantastic. The restaurant has a very pretty garden with a small waterfall, which makes you feel a million miles from the hustle and bustle of NYC. For the winter, there's a cute fireplace inside, and there's also an Enoteca attached to the restaurant, which serves a ton of wine by the flite or glass.

I Trulli and its adjacent enoteca (wine bar) offer the perfect place to experience genuine Southern Italian cooking. The Marzovilla family and Charles Scicolone run everything with loving care, and food is prepared as if it were being served to a loved one. The pastas and game are best, but everything is delicious. I have introduced young people to Italian food by taking them here, and it is a good place to start. They discover that part of the pleasure of eating good food is experiencing it in a warm and loving environment rather than something glitzy and noisy. I have also taken Italians here and they are always impressed. I Trulli has one of the best Italian wine lists in the city, and it is fairly priced. In years of dining here, I have always had top-notch experiences and I heartily recommend it.

Was invited by a friend who knows the owner well. Am a wine enthusiast so was thoroughly impressed with the wine list. Food was creative and well balanced. I had lamb and it was cooked perfectly, presentation was not overly impressive but it all ended up in the same spot! A little pricey on the entrees but for a special evening out it was acceptable.

Tried it twice and was disappointed in every way twice. The emperor's new cloths. Many other excellent Italian restaurants to try.

Yes the check will get your attention, but you'll go back for more. One of NY's very finest Italian restaurants, with an unbelievable vino list. In season the outdoor garden is very pleasant. Pastas are very good, wines are excellent, veals are great. For an upscale Italian evening, this is the place.

Great food, great ambience and very friendly - not at all stuffy - service. Unbelievable wine list (all Italian) and very knowledgable staff help with wine selections without intimidating. Great wine store across the street and attached wine bar for flights. I can't say enough good things...
