9 av was packed and this place was the only place that we could get an immediate table for 5 and I realized why. It was possibly the worst restaurant i've ever been to in New York. The chicken dishes tasted like rubber and the seafood in my pasta tasted like frozen. There were not many customers but the service was terribly slow and awful. All in all probably the worst dining experience ever. Do yourself and anyone you know a favor, NEVER GO THERE!!!.

I don't know who write the previous reviews, probably someone from his family or personal friends, because since was opened, this restaurant have had change waitresses almost every 3 months. The gays in the picture were fired, 6 months ago because they were catch taking money from the register! About Alberto, the owner he was never a restaurant owner, as it says in the brochure! He was the manager for 5 year in an American restaurant!

This is my new favorite restaurant!!! Il Melograno is a true hidden gem in the city. They serve the best Italian food in town - without a doubt. I've been to fancy upscale Italian restaurants and nothing compares to their fresh pastas. Since I discovered this place a few weeks ago I've dined there about 7 times. I highly suggested their specials. They often have a pasta with seafood on their specials menu. I recently had lobster with linguini in a light delicate tomato sauce....it was amazing! They serve a high-end meal at a great price. I'm working my way down their menu.....looking forward to trying everything.

This area will have many new restaurants in the near future but this one is here to stay. Excellent food (including one the best paninis in NY IMO), very congenial staff and reasonable prices. This place is a no-brainer for excellent food. John is an excellent waiter, Alberto & Co. continue to create simple, amazing food!

This place is great and I'm so happy to have them open in the neighborhood. The reviewer did not do it justice: this is not a Soup & Sandwich place! It is a restaurant! My favorite part is the fresh pasta (esp. the veal raviola with proscuitto and cream sauce). I also love the apple salad, the mussels and the fresh foccacia. I heard from the owner that a liquor license is pending (byob for now). A few opening glitches are still being perfected but try it out before everyone else finds it - you won't regret it.

This review sounds nothing like the restaurant I know. While there are definitely salds and panini on the menu, the focus is really on the fresh pasta and the entrees. All are delicious, huge, and amazingly well-priced. I imagine it's only a matter of time before the owner realizes he isn't charging enough. While the place doesn't have a liquor license yet (they're working on it), you can bring your own. And the last couple of times I was there they were serving complimentary wine--even better! This place is a great addition to Hell's Kitchen.
