This restaurant is trendy, relaxing and very appealing. It is very small but cozy- the service is great, the food is super. I love the bathroom by the way it is very original.

The drinks were just perfect - margaritas just don't get any better. Food was delicious and inventive, good sized portions and wonderfully seasoned with Mexican influenced spices, etc. Service could not be better, we went on Saturday night and they were busy, but attentive, not overly so either. Will definitely return. Worth the price.

Start off with a specialty drink - Exotico with its blend of buttery smooth tequila, honey and lime was the perfect prelude to the equally butttery and spicy guacamole. The blooming diver scallops were nicely seasoned with a flavor that delicately balanced the taste of the ocean with tropical heat. Striped bass came well presented with a tomato, olive and caper based sauce - a la veracruz. Ixta's ceviche lacks the stronger flavors of lemon and lime found in more traditional ceviches. The chicken not-so-delicately flavored, bordered on salty. And lobster taquitos are overpowered with the black beans they share their blue corn tortilla with. Service is friendly and the ambiance is warm but trendy. In true NY style, the tables are rather close, so I don't recommend Ixta if you're looking to have a private conversation. Overall, the food, service and decor are very good.
