Worst Service, Unsanitary Lavatory , Not kid friendly, Overall very poor. That is why there is a mandatory gratuity over 5 people, no matter how bad the service is they get their gratuity. No newspaper or magazine should ever give them a positive review unless "Jackson Diner" was forewarned of the visit. I will never go back there again, and I will deter those who are planning to go.

On a recent visit in mid Jan-09, my wife and I had a very unpleasent experience at the Jackson Diner. Even though the restaurant was nearly empty, we had slow and unresponsive service. My wife, who is from India, ordered for both of us, and received surly and nearly hostile behavior from the waiter. He then brought us a plate of papad. I saw a cockroach crawling all over it. And again, even though there were few other diners, it took us over 2 minutes to get someone to come back to our table. The roach was still running all over the food. He just flicked it away and stared at us with an unfriendly "what else do you expect me to do?" expression. He didn't express any regret or even offer to replace the food. I went up to everybody at the main desk asking to speak to the manager, but nobody would admit to being that person, so we left. We have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, along with my wife's relatives, but needless to say, this was our last visit to this unfriendly and unsanitary restaurant.

I have been eating at Jackson Diner for years now, and while I tried other Indian restuarants, they just don't match up with the wonderful food and service at Jackson Diner. I just keep going back there every week for lunch and on weekends for dinner with the family. I still have not found another place that serves such amazing Indian food as Jackson Diner.. You have to try their buffet..they have so much food for so less...and its really delicious. I look forward to work so that I can take my lunchbreak at Jackson Diner. Everything from their naan to their palak paneer to their daal is truly perfection. The decor is nice too..me and my buddies just chill out and have a good time eating and chatting..its very cool place to eat great food and hang out. Honestly, if you want the best Indian food in the city you have got to try this place, believe me you have not tried good Indian food till you go to Jackson Diner...you will leave wanting more and planning your next trip there.

Its not the "typical" Indian restaurant with dim lights and citar music playing...Instead it is a modern restaurant with a wonderful ambiance. Their food is amazing especially considering the price. Other restaurants charge twice the price for food half as good as JD. Moreover, the service is great, the waiters are friendly and the restaurant is clean and neat. In addition, they have a myriad of dining options, a pleothra of Indian cuisine..so you can get a lot of different food for a reasonable price. The other great aspect is its location. My friends and I just take the subway into Jackson Heights, fuel up at Jackson diner and than head off to the city. My friends love it so much now that they will come out from the city just to eat at Jackson Diner!!..I have also had many parties catered by them, and everyone has enjoyed the food very much. If you have taste for Indian food, this is the place to go!! I think I will go there today...:)

I've been to the best all over the world, and I have to tell you if you really want really GREAT Indian food with out the nonsense, go to the Jackson Diner. They say that some like it hot! Well, they make it the way you like it.

I have been eating in the Jackson Diner for 15 years, when they first started down the street in a tiny space. They have moved and the food is as delicious as it always was. To avoid disappointment, I have stopped going to other Indian restaurants in this city of a million Indian restaurants. The food is so fresh, the nan (bread) so hot, the service is very good. I always eat at the buffet, where they lose money on me: I can easily go back 3 times to the buffet tables to fill up again and again. Plus, there is a dosa chef who will make freshest food for you to order. I am a vegetarian and always marvel at the wide variey of vegetarian (vegan) choices. My son, a picky eater, loves this retaurant as well. There is a very good reason that this restaurant has been in business for so long, and that it is frequented by INDIANS! (Who would know better!)

The quality of food , service and value have been consistantly high over the years and that is amazing in NYC. Jackson Dinner by any standards should be considered a NYC perinial favorite. The atmosphere exudes a real NY charm. Somewhere in-between hip and functional. This is a kid friendly place, and also great for a date or a business dinner. This family run restaurant is a jewel and is worth the trip.
