Very mixed feelings

Honestly food was decent. Maybe what I got was strange. Service was decent. Food took FOREVER even though it was an awkward hour. I went into this place with a handful of my friends. 4 out of 5 of them paid with cash, I paid with card. I told the waitress "pay the rest on my card and the rest is cash." The waitress charged me the ENTIRE bill and most likely took the cash as her own tip. I was late for a meeting and rushed out. If anything, i advise be careful with the bill...it just happened bad judgement on my part and shady waitress. Cheers to Jane who made $120 that day.

Went for my boyfriends birthday and he loved the steak with the amazing fries. I had the mussels which were good, but the wine flavor was very very overwhelming. We also ordered the over sized cookies with a candle and they were good as well. The menu could use some more options, we felt a little limited with the choices given. Overall, the food was good and it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be, we made reservations, but I didn't think they were needed this particular Saturday night.

Normally at places like this your $12 app is tiny. But this had healthy portions and the food was really, really good. Would go back in a heartbeat.

Love this place! Amazing burgers (w/ tons of crispy fries) and great goat cheese flatbread- not too $, great drinks, original and refreshing- I had a blast w/ my girlfriends here before a night out. We even wanted to go to brunch the next day w/ our hangovers but it was too busy so make a reservation! Cannot wait to go back!

I love this place. The french toast is the best I've ever had. The cookies and milk are phenomenal - I've taken two out of town guests there for dessert. 3 Warm, large chocolate chip cookies to dip in milk with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream - heaven. The atmosphere is casual, yet nice. Service was excellent. I want to be best friends with the waiter we had the last time we stopped by for cookies and milk. Moscato di asti was on the house - love that!

What can I say? You can't throw a rock in NYC without hitting something as common as Jane. If you don't live within 5 blocks I wouldn't make the trip.

I dream about the brunch. brought my picky, hard-to-impressive mother here for brunch yesterday and even she was impressed! The portions are huge and the food is high-quality, inventive spins of hearty breakfast. I love the prosciutto eggs benedict and the creme brulee french toast. The service couldn't be nicer or more accommodating, which is refreshing, especially in NYC where much of the waitstaff tends to be stuck-up. Unlike many restaurants, this restaurant is fantastic at honoring brunch reservations. Yesterday, I got their early and was seated immediately! LOVE THIS PLACE!

A Very pleasant Thanksgiving experience

My family celebrated Thanksgiving in New York this year, and with my small kitchen, we had to eat out. I had never been to Jane, so I was taking a chance, but it turned out to be just lovely, and very memorable. The food was excellent, large portions (great for Thanksgiving), very traditional with an elegant spin on things. The stuffing was prepared as a muffin, and when you cut into it, it fell apart and was delicious. The appetizers were excellent, from a tuna tartar to soup. Our waiter was so kind and attentive, but not overly so. In fact, my Dad didn't realize that they added a service charge, and they noticed he tipped on top of it, and he came back to tell us. They sent us home with warm cookies, and we all left very happy. The one thing I would suggest they change for this occasion- the music. It was not fitting for the day or the restaurant, then as we were leaving they put on Norah Jones, and it was much better. Overall an excellent experience for celebrating a holiday all about food and family.

I recently went to Jane and made a 7:30 p.m. reservation on a Sunday. I waited for 10 minutes and had a couple that came after me without a reservation get seated before I left Jane. What's the point of making a reservation if they are not going to seat you and seat people who came after you without a reservation? Jane is not very professional or courteous. I would not recommend Jane, besides you can go to other NY resturants with better service that have a much higher Zagat ratings and still pay the same amount. Jane is over-rated.

Sure it's loud, but it doesn't really matter when the people surrounding you, and serving you, are having so much fun. Not to mention the cuteness factor of all concerned as well. Great place for dinner with friends before a night out. Definitely puts you in a party mood, and the food's great too!
