The choice fell on the spring menu, $ 198 and wine menu for $ 138. Driver Scallop Carpaccio, Sea Beans, green chilies and spring Herbs. The lovely scallop with their delicate meat was completely drowned out by STRONG chilli which unfortunately total paralysis one's mouth so that nothing could be tasted. Total unsuccessful Scallop and when you know how delicious it can be done, it was a total failure. Wine Riesling, Trimbach Cuvee Frederic Alsace 2006 Maine Lobster Sauteed in Salted butter, Artichoke, Basil and Spiced Citrus Emulsion A small plate with Lobster came in and the waiter poured Basil and Spiced Citrus Emulsion on the Lobster. I could smell it right away a very sharp smell of vinegar, like when you smell directly into the vinegar bottle. The first spoonful and I had to give up eating this dish. The dish was inedible it was like drinking pure vinegar. It was impossible to taste the Lobster it could have been chicken and you would not be able to taste through the overly dominant vinegar. For the first time at a restaurant I had to complain to the waiter about the food. They offered me another dish with Lobster which I accepted. Unfortunately, my taste buds already damaged by vinegar so I cannot remember if it tasted of Lobster. Terrible unprofessional dish . The bill ended up at 805 dollers price is ok if the quality is high. At the restaurant Jean Geroges you will be disappointed Would I recommend Jean Geroges ABSOLUTELY NOT?

I was Jean George on august 26, 2012. Decor is great. Food is OK. The dishes where not fancy, they were trying to be fancy. Le Fois Grass was mix with granuella. It felt like pattee meet candy bar. I also had the beef in which they charge $15 extra! I promise, you will ask yourself in the next morning, "why is the extra $15 about"? The dish was small and dry. Service is good, but every little piece of food put on the table had the longest narration from the waiters, gets old very quickly. I feel they are trying too hard from the service and the dishes.

This is my NYC "Lucy-pulls-the-football-away-from-Charlie-Brown-When-He-Runs-Up-To-Kick-It-Restaurant". Every meal I eat here is completely mediocre, but then I endure listening to people talk it up all the time and go back for another bad meal. JG is from Alsace as is the NYC living legend Andre Soltner, but in that "space" he's like Soltner's idiot cousin. The best thing that can be said about JG is that it inspired one of the best restaurant reviews Ruth Reichl ever wrote when she grudgingly gave it 4*'s, in a review where her dinner guest almost succeeds in talking her out of it. The last meal I ate here was in Feb, 2010, and I would best describe the dinner as discombobulated.

The prix-fixe lunch in the Nougatine Room has been one of NYC’s best fine dining values for years. The service and food quality on March 10, 2010 was superb. Jean Georges was cooking in the expansive open kitchen (as he often is) and any of the plates I was served could have been cover shots for a food magazine. I have dined here many times and will continue to do so. Consistent and very well run operation.

it is not the dreamy experience you expect it to be....the food is yummy but each dish is tiny, it has two bites or maybe three, so you leave hungry after a four course meal and a huge bill. Not worth it at all. Service and decor are nice but Nougatine is much better!

My husband and I always LOVE dinners at Jean-Georges; it has been a special place for us for many years. We had a 8:45 pm reservation; and we were asked to wait for 15 minutes to be seated. (Maybe we were spoiled at Jean-Georges before, but we never had to wait for our seats ever out of past 5 meals there). After finally seating down , no one came to greet us with menus or anything at all for at least 5 minutes. Finally, this gentleman (who later on turned out to be our waiter) swing by with wine menu (but no food menu) and mubbled that our waiter will be with us shortly. And we were left alone for another 10 minutes before he came back to take our drink order, and my husband has to ask for food menu. The room was loud, and when anyone came by to explain anything, they did not speak louder. My water glasses were empty for at least 15 minutes, and we had to ask for refill; the same thing with my coffee.

We dined at Jean Georges midweek, in early May. Perhaps being there midweek helped, however we had absolutely no problem with either delays or seating arrangements (note, they did at first attempt to seat us next to the kitchen doors, but were happy to oblige us when I asked that we be moved). The staff was perfect - courteous and knowledgeable without being the least bit obsequious. The food, wonderful from the first to 7th course, was up to the restaurant's well-deserved reputation, and the wine was perfectly matched. All in all, a beautiful evening. Merci mon beau :-).

We opted for the Jean Georges prix fixe 7 course and the seasonal. Some of the dishes leave a wonderful, amazing, lingering taste in your mouth that you want to stay around. A companion pointed out that sometimes the fish, for example, was bland alone, the sauce overwhelming alone, but together they were magnificent. I would definitely go back. The room is beautiful and comfortable and the noise level is low. The service does vary quite a bit from being informative yet condescending at the same time (they occasionally sounded like car salespeople). They started out at a great level of attention without intrusion but by the last 2-3 courses we felt we had been forgotten (plus we had a curtain to make). All around though it was a great experience. It cost $360 including tip but no wine or alcohol.

Dining perfection is what we experienced at Jean Georges. The food whether it is seafood, game, beef, pork, liver or pasta- it is here and it was all fantastic. The flavors and seasonings that are used are phenomenal. The sauces folks, it is about the sauces this chef creates. Wow! Tasty, vibrant and sublime. The service- these people have ESP. We thought it- they brought it. That simple. The dining room. Tiny but simple, elegant and with wonderful views on 3 sides. Very highly recommended. Will definitely be back. Vongerichten is the best chef in this town- hands down.

A Guide Michelin 3 star must perform better than this. I would rate it as a 1 star though so its not a bad restaurant. Our greatest disappointment was that the food, although innovative in one respect, the food didnt taste much (we ordered the Jean Georges tasting menu). I find that very strange, dont they always taste everything before its sent out, they should.. Another odd thing was the staff, although nice, they just didnt fit the restaurant, it was a Starbuck staff feeling, it was hard to take them seriously. A very strange choice indeed.
