It all started out great. I called and made a Rez. on my wife's b day/v day then had to change and they were more than accommodating. We couldn't wait to get there. We had picked out what we wanted on the menu that was on the web. At this point we could already taste it. And then we arrived. The place was packed and tables were added from the last time I was there. This is understanding since it was valentines day. While waiting for are table we tried to get a drink at the bar, but were not waited on. When I got the bartenders attention and asked about a wine he through a menu at me and said, "this is what we have tonight". So he was biz. I understand. At this point I notice that nothing I had picked out on there small menu was there. Even the staples of a small Italian restaurant and the stuff that they are known for. This was not mention anywhere. Still we said we would stay and eat, but after looking around and seeing some people with baseball hats on that we're not told to take them off and the awful table right at the front door that they gave us we left. Not sure what to do or think. For such a small place I'm shocked that they would limit their GREAT home style Italian menu. The food is great there and prob. Will be back but I feel bad for the owner because his workers don't care about customer service the way he does.

I'm an ex - Jersey girl, going back for a visit in the fall of 2012. I moved to AZ a few years ago, saw John's on Food TV on Diners, Dives & Drive ins & really! I cannot wait for that homemade sauce and pasta. I hope to go with some New Yawk friends.

John's is one of my favorite Italian places in New York. The food is straight up old school Italian with all of the traditional dishes cooked to perfection. The staff, made up of all men, are friendly and a lot of fun. This is a great place to bring family, friends or a date. The last time I was there was on a Friday night. My girlfriend and I showed up at 7PM and didn't leave until 10:30PM. After we had finished eating they didn't rush us out - they only asked that we move to a booth so they could give the table to another group and then gave us a free round of drinks for the inconvenience. If you haven't been here before, do yourself a favor and check it out. John's will definitely become one of your favorite places to go in the city.
