Best pizza in Manhattan? Hell no! Just continue down Bleecker and go to Joe's -- you won't be disappointed. Any place that doesn't serve pizza by the slice is illegitimate in my book.
Pizzas and old-fashioned atmosphere; avoid other food

For juke boxes on the tables with Frank Sinatra, waiters who seem as if they've been there since the pizza place opened, it's fun if you go when there's no line. They seem to have been the original wood-burning oven pizza place, a Village favorite, but recent pizza parlors may be cutting into their business. It's a fun place for a kids' birthday party. Cheap, almost undrinkable wine, long menu of various combinations (sausage, meatballs, mushrooms, onion and peppers). Prices are fair and you can eat cheaply, but don't venture into the food section of the menu as it's truly mediocre.

Made a return trip to the "Original" and forgot how much more I liked it than the others. Had my two year old in tow for this one and had to wait on line a bit but as usual, it was well worth the wait. Tried to get my son, who's just beginning to talk, to pick between Lomabardi's and John's but I couldn't get it out of him. He was too busy chowing down his second slice!!!

Sure, I went through the typical New Yorker's phase of writing this place off after their multi-restaurant expansion (none as good as this original), as well as after seeing one too many 'Nebraska' sweatshirts waiting in line to get in. But, I recently went back to Bleecker, and loved the pizza all over again. Fast-moving lines, delicious pizzas and ultra-basic salads, good service and a charming, old-world atmosphere. For pizza aficionados, they know how to prep a crust here (not super-thin and crackery, but thin and tasting of bread). Toppings couldn't be better.

Great pizza: margherita with pepperoni. Service was average: not overly attentive, but we weren't ignored either. Tip: Count your change before tipping/leaving the restaurant.

My family and I came at around 11:50 because we heard it was very popular and it opens at 11:30. We had the margherita pizza and the plain pizza. Best pizza ever! Never imagined pizza tasting this good! The downside of this pizzeria is that there are NO REFILLS! We left around 12:30 and we see a line out the door. Good thing we came early!

"Large cheese pie with fresh garlic." Five words spoken by me at least once a week to one of the guys at John's on Bleecker throughout my three years at NYU law school. Didn't matter who was with me--the order never varied. Still doesn't. Manna from heaven, nectar of the gods, call it what you will...it's the perfect pie.
The best thin crust pizza in nyc!

i love johns! i usually go to the original in the village, but i've also been to the one on 44th street.(its right next door to the theatre where the producers is playing) i'd have to say the original is the best! the margehrita pizza is so thin, and the crust s cripsy just the way it should b and the way i like it. sometimes i get onions on my pizza, otherwise, ill just get sauce and cheese. last time i was there, in july, jodie foster was right next to me with her kids! so if a big star like her goes there, then they have to be ding something right. i recommend it to families of all ages and to anyone! its so good, yet the one downtown is small! the one on 44th is huge and there's an upstairs! i haven't been to the one in the 60's but i guess ill have to try it one of these days to see which one is the best! go to johns! you'll love it! and if you dont,then theres something wrong with you!
