Not worth what they put you through

While i admit that the pizza is very good, the customer service is so bad that the pizza doesnt come close to making up for it. They do not even make an attempt to try to be reasonable with their customers. I guess they feel that they want to attract the customer who are looking for a "New York" experience. if you call in for take out expect it to take alot longet than they tell you. Then expect them to sit there waiting to pay because they loke to watch you wait. When calling, expect them to put you on hold. They will do that to make you feel that they are busy even if they are not. I ordered a pizza because my wife insisted. I told her that I hate ordering from the place but she said that she was in the mood. We were told 15 minutes. We came 20 minutes later to be told that they just put the coals in the oven and that we will have to wait. When told of our frustration the manager said that she was just the weekend manager and that if we want to complain, come tomorrow. If not, we should just sit and be quiet. WHAT A PLACE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When choosing a pizza joint, vegans might not be a terrific reference

Sorry Mr Grumpy and his significant other had a bad time. John's east side has been a bright spot for me on the generally bleak upper east side after a decade living on lower Fifth. While we respect the vegan lifestyle,my wife and I eat meat and milk products and think John's on 64th Street is among the better pizza places in NYC. It's at least equal to Lombardi's, superior to John's downtown and better than Arturo's but sadly without the jazz vibe (or the bad art for sale). Worth your while in my opinion.

Don't waste your time or money!

My fiance & I went to the upper east side location of Johns. I was hoping for some of their delicious brick oven pizza like at the Bleeker St. location. My fiance, who is a vegan, was ok going there as they had a grilled vegetable platter. Well........this was by far the worst meal we have ever had. The pizza tasted like any other store front pizzeria, the sausage on it was nowhere like that used at Bleeker St., and the grilled vegetable platter was horrible. The very few vegetables that they had were salty, over spiced and over priced. My fiance asked them to substitute some broccolli for the usual eggplant, tomatoes. The response was no problem. But......there were two pieces of broccolli and when the bill was received there was a $3.50 charge for it. We told the waiter of our displeasure but that was to no avail. He simply said sorry, took the check and brought us back our receipt. We will never go back to this location and I only hope that the management reads this so they can figure out why this place really sucks!
