Iâ€™ve attended to JoJo many times before and decided to treat my mother to a nice dinner there on her birthday. It was a surprise for her. We love the ambience and the food at JoJo, as well as the food at all the other Jean Georges restaurants. But unfortunately, things didnâ€™t go as planned. When we first arrived there, we were greeted as always and waited to be seated. My brother, purposely walked in a little bit later, in order to ensure he would get the chance to request a birthday cake with a candle in lieu of the celebration. Nevertheless, this request was not taken into account. Three of us had ordered the special Pre-fix Summer Menu, which included Tuna Roll as an appetizer. But unfortunately they seemed to have not planned accordingly and none of us were able to get this dish, as they had â€śrecently ran out of itâ€ť. They had also ran out of the Bass entrĂ©e. Quite unlikely at such a respectable restaurant. Additionally, food took a long time to get to our table after we had placed our order. And the last entrĂ©e to make it to the table, after a long wait, was a Veal Milanese which regrettably had a hair in it. This was of course taken off the check as it was the least they could do. I then took the time to talk to the Manager, and she, instead of assuming the fault, was actually to my surprise very hesitant to accept the complaint and ended up being disrespectful. I regret to say this will probably be my last time dining here.
One of the best UES brunches

You can't beat the price on the prix-fixe brunch, especially considering the food is on par in flavor and execution to other J-G spots like Nougatine and Perry St. Bonus points for being the best choice in a neighborhood that's otherwise a restaurant wasteland, and for the hilariously over-the-top grandma's-pied-a-terre decor.
A Near Perfect Dining Experience

I went there for Valentine's Day. It is a very small space, and we had about 1 foot of space between our table and the next, but my complaints end there. The service was fast and courteous. The food was extraordinary. The shrimp appetizer was very memorable. Many different layers of flavor, and all complemented each other. The venison was a little tough, even at medium-rare, but it was flavored well and paired nicely with pomegranate and braised pears and savoy cabbage (It also went very nicely with the pinot noir I was drinking). The sweet potato ravioli in a word: tasty. I took everyone's recommendation on the chocolate dessert, and I agree that it is the best you'll find anywhere. The pear tart with pear sorbet is another great dessert find for those seeking a not-as-rich end to the meal. I truly believe there's something for everyone here, and it is pretty affordable for Chef JGV quality.
please... Easy on the salt!!!

I was excited to go to jojo, rewarded by one star in the Michelin. I guess much of it is due to the decor... the food is VERY disappointing. There is just simply way too much salt. I was honestly very surprised to experience such a basic problem in a place renowned like this one... Although salt is usually addictive we couldnt eat the french fries... Decor is good, service is good.
Average would be a compliment

Although the ingredients were all fresh, the staff polite, and the wine acceptable, the sum of the parts did not make the whole worth the while. The food is stuck in the early nineties, the decor stuck in the early seventies, and most of the guests stuck in the late sixties. The place is stale.

After being wowed by Perry St only a few days prior, I was pretty excited about trying out Jean-Georges' JoJo. What I found was relatively un-inspired. Aside from the fact that Jean-Georges himself was walking back and forth through the restaurant all evening--and was extremely genteel when I spoke to him--everything else about the experience was certainly "so-so." Although I can't necessarily complain about the food or the service or the decor, I can't rave about it either. The ricotta-beet ravioli were fine, the salmon on truffled mashed potatos good but boring, the chocolate molten cake the same as so many others. I will say that the music is very good, the crowd is an interesting mix, and the dowstairs is certainly more charming than the upstairs. Also, I could be wrong--because I didnt clarify with the waiter-- but I'm pretty sure wines are only served by the glass, and last night I was to choose from merely 5 selections.
Great place for a date

A great place to bring a date, the decor is amazing and incredibly romantic. The shrimp appitizer is quite delicious as well as the salmon entree. JoJo is the perfect place for a date, good food, great atmosphere and good service on top of everything.
A treat everytime we visit

It wouldn't be a trip to New York without having lunch or dinner at JoJo. The decor is an absolute jewlbox and the food, while maybe not cutting edge, is always delicious and beautifully presented. The service is crisp and polite and always accomodating.

With my new hair I just got from Rodolfo Valentin in my opinion the best hairdresser in New York, my boyfriend wanted to match it having dinner at the best restaurant in the city. The food was excellent and we have the most romantic evening of the year!
Great Expectations Dashed

Perhaps because we were so looking forward to going out to a Jean-Georges restaurant and our expectations were too high, but I was disappointed. The atmosphere was not as romatic as I had hoped. It was very dark and therefore looked a little run down. The food was good, but not remarkable, except for the extraordinary chocolate dessert, which was the best dessert I have ever had. Also noteworthy was the service. The staff was extremely friendly and welcoming and made us feel special. Overall, a mixed bag.
