Its a pretty nice place with some awesome tofu. The person who attended us seemed to have say in matters and knew about the food. He was even bold enough to save me from shame while eating an exotic been thing with the peal. The tofu was amazing, and don't get me started on the vegan hot chocalate with ice cream on top dessert. Its a bit pricie, but given the location, presentation and demand, its worth it. I would definately take any date there, its a bit small for a big family though.

My husband and I went on a Friday night. Service was attentive and nice, from the second I walked in. Overall, the food is uneven - the complementary breads are dry and some of the food lacked salt and was underseasoned. I had two different wines, and both were just average. Crabcakes were okay, kind of bland and I wouldn't order them again. My husband's butternut squash soup was excellent - thick, fragrant, and comforting. He also loved his filet mignon - he said preparation was spot-on. Dessert was FANTASTIC - warm chocolate pecan pie that melted in my mouth. I might go back to Josie's just for that dessert!

two experiences, one good and one bad

The first time my husband and I went to Josie's we had a great time - nice waiter and good food. We went back with some friends and had a bad experience. The hostess was short with us and generally uninformed about the restaurant. Our waiter was either highly forgetful or drunk, erratically returning to the table then forgetting to bring back whatever was promised. One of the entrees was forgotten and the only person who noticed was a waitress from across the restaurant who was working double-time to make up for her colleagues. Perhaps we were just there on an off night.

We are regulars, sorry, we used to be regulars. We are not coming back. The place is severely understaffed to the point that when the food or wine arrives you are plain anxious. Monday and Tuesdays are 20% off wine bottles, but every single time we had to send the bill back for the discount.

The food was acceptable, but nothing how I expected it to be for a restaurant of this nature. I ordered the seared tuna salad with a baby arugula mix, which was supposed to be topped with roasted fennel. The fennel bulb was bland, watery, and tasteless--a sure indication that it was probably just boiled and sliced. There was nothing about it that lead me to believe that it had been roasted in any way. Fortunately, the tuna was delicious, which made up for it. My boyfriend had a simple pasta dish with a tomato-basil sauce, but it was nothing impressive. The quality wasn't really there for this dish--it may have well have been bottled tomato sauce. The service was horrible--our waiter barely spoke to us and rushed us through the ordering process. He plopped menus onto our table without a care, and only asked us how things were when he was conveniently helping the patrons next to us. He never made eye contact and he made it perfectly clear that he didn't care about providing good service--I don't think he even said hello.

BUGS in salad

I used to love Josies, until I found a big dead bug in my salad. The manager didn't react at all, and the waitress just said it was because they use organic lettuce....seriously??? Does that mean it doesn't have to be washed.
