Don't Go There
By NYCuisine on 10/4/2013
I don't know what happened to the employees here. I went there at lunchtime. They brought some surprisingly dull and droopy side dishes, all dried and not fresh at all. I thought about just leaving but called on them and politely raised an issue. They silently took away the side dishes and brought the second ones, some of which like the Kimchi were a little brighter and fresher, but no apologies and somewhat rudely offered that they were the same and thus I should have been happy with first ones. Then the main dish they brought me missed one obvious ingredient that is part of the dish name. I think the employer REALLY should better train their employees. Their service level fluctuates depending on which day you visit, probably better when their boss is around or you come as a big group. I did have a good experience a couple of years ago when I dined with my family on a busy weekend night. But I'm not going there again, especially with some excellent competitors on this street that provide more consistent pride in their offerings. It was some of the most wasted lunch money that I have spent in years.

Very helpful waiter. Help choosing the dishes and then how to eat it. Food was comfort type. Dumplings were special.
My favorite Korean restaurant on 32nd Street

I've been frequenting Kang Suh for more than 10 years now and it continues to offer great quality Korean cuisine. I especially love the marinated prime rib steak BBQ that's cooked at your table and comes with a wide array of side dishes. I'm also a big fan of the gopdol bibimbap which is a rice dish topped with vegetables, ground beef and a fried egg (vegetarian option is great too) and served in a hot stone pot which gives this dish a nice crunchy seared finish. I had my birthday dinner here recently in one of the private rooms upstairs. The room comfortably fit about 15 of my friends and we all had a great time eating family-style Korean food.
Not my favorite

I took a new employee out to lunch here and I have to say, it wasn't the best. Though it is "nicer" than some of the other options in K-town, I found the servers to be rude and inattentive - until the check came - then they were practically throwing us out the door. It was lunchtime, and not busy, so I don't understand their behavoir. It was a strange experience to say the least. At least it was inexpensive - very good value for the portions.
One of the better Korean restaurants that I've been to

I must say, this is one of the better Korean restaurants that I've been to. You got to try their Korean short ribs (Kalbi). The quality of the meat is excellent. My kids love the various Korean side dishes that comes with the meal. The food is great, price is decent, and service is good. Highly recommeded for Korean eatery experience.

The food was great, the service is fine as long as you can speak with your hands.
