Rude Male Hosts (why then need to I don't know) Staff and Bartenders (not the Hostess, she was lovely). Had to wait 15 minutes to order a drink while white patrons were served first. Food was adequate (I've had better in Melbourne and Perth) . Its a shame to have poor service in a restaurant that is there to serve the public. Aussies should be insulted.

went there friday night with a bunch of friends. we had a reservation and were seated about 10 minutes after arriving. this place is really cozy, they play great music and the food is absolutely delicious. i don't really see how the menu is australian but it doesn't matter... their burgers with truffle french fries are insane. good wine list and our waiter was nice and fun as well

Ended up here one evening by chance. Had the mussels with the curry and coconut sauce. TO DIE FOR! The meal was pretty tasty also. Drinks were overpriced but the crowd was a mixture of fashionable twenty-somethings out for a drink with couples on date night. I would definitely go back if only for the mussels.

The Kingswood is one of my top 5 go-to restaurants for a reliably great evening. The food is consistently delicious, perfect portions and affordable. The staff are lively and attentive and the bar crowd is always fun. The bar snacks could improve for after work drinks, but the hot bartenders make up for it! I hear the lounge downstairs has been relaunched and can't wait to sneak in one night soon and order a delicious (if expensive) cocktail.

The lounge downstairs doesn't know what it's doing. one bartender charged me 11 for a martini, the other 16. or maybe it was 10 then jumped to 14, whatever. when i pointed it out, they brought a manager over who offered no apology and charged me the higher price for my second round. totally ridiculous. and the crowd was fug-tastic.

This review is continues from the previous one....Chapter two. When the manager brought the food out we were laughing and were having conversation with the couple next us who began making comment on how bad the service was and they shouldnÂ’t charge us. I had a one bite of my eggs benedict and found a string. I called the waiter and showed him the string and you won't believe what he said....he said "it could be part of the egg" has anyone seen a chicken lay strings???? As you can imagine I was beyond upset. We complained to the waiter and his response to us "do not be rude"....again, we got no apology. People next to us were also flabbergasted. The manager never showed up and we decided to walk out. We met the manager on the way out. To sum it up, the manager never apologized but made a comment that we laughed at him when he came to our table so he decided to just walk away. I am Australian and I am so shamed of this so called Australian restaurant and their HORRIBLE service.

My story is very long but necessary to tell so I will post it in two different sessions. First chapter.....I came here for brunch with a friend last saturday and had the worst experience ever in a restaurant. The restaurant was less than third full. We ordered our drinks and they arrived pretty quick but about 45 minutes went by and the table next to us who ordered after us got their meal and were about to finish. By this time no one bothered to come to our table to check. We called waiter and ask where our food was (the table next to us also let the waiter know that our food was order before theirs). He comes back and tells us that their computer is down. Again, the restaurant was almost empty....back from kitchen he informed us that our food is ready. We waited over 15 minutes and finally the manager came out with our food. By this time there was no apology from either the manager or the waiter. 2nd chapter follows

I headed to Kingswood without preconceptions, but I can't remember the last time I was this disappointed with a meal. Maybe I should have been clued in when upon approaching the door I was rudely blocked by a man asking me if I had a reservation. 'Scene or not, it’s Thursday at 7:30pm and it was rude. The pumpkin galette was a heavy clump of blandness topped by a thick jam whose sweetness did nothing to elevate this dish. Next - flavorless beef, accompanied by bitter puree and soggy chanterelles. My date had a so-so risotto saved only by fresh herbs and then beer battered fish tasting of raw batter. We did polish off the brussel sprouts side. Service is almost non-existent. The wine - an expensive $16/glass of pinot noir from Argentina - was the only saving grace. The only inquiry on the food we received was from a runner clearing my full plate. Apparently the servers know the food is bad and avoid the question. Unless you are only looking to have a drink in a loud overcrowded bar in an admittedly attractive setting, do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else.

Beautiful space, helpful staff, and great menu (including possibly the best burger south of 14th St-- sorry, Spotted Pig). It is admittedly a bit noisy, but who goes for the peace and quiet?
