First impression upon arrival was good based on the creative and stylish interior. Our table was not ready at the reservation time so we sat in the entry area and ordered drinks which thanks to a bartender with significant attitude, never arrived (apparently staff were unable to work out where we were in the restaurant). As a frequent traveler to Thailand, "authentic" is not a term that applies to food at this establishment. The green curry (chicken) was bland was without flavor and the jungle curry (pork tenderloin) was salty to the point of being inedible. However, table service was good. All in all I would not return to dine here.

Came in for lunch. Everything was good...but not outstanding. I had the artic char, which was cooked excellently, however, the broth it came in was a bit too salty for my tastes. The decor was admittedly beautiful, but in a trying too hard sort of way. The restaurant was empty, yet the maitre d' still seemed a bit frazzled when we walked in. Our waiter was good. Not really sure what to say about this place. No complaints. Everything was above average, but it wasn't anything to write home about. Will go in again for brunch, where I am excited to try one of their blood orange mimosas.

I keep going back! Awesome food (maybe not the classic Thai, but high quality, with some surprising dishes and flavors), excellent decor. Service not the best in NY, but doesn't ruin the evening!

Kittichai is beautiful in several aspects of the experience. The restaurant is designed well and perfectly lit, with a circular reflecting pool and floating votive candles in the center. I was a bit put off by the cheap wooden chopsticks in paper wrapping--the only aspect of the meal that didn't seem to be meticulously designed. I ordered fishcakes, lab nuar (cold beef salad), short ribs in green curry, and Thai flan. Each was perfectly plated, each an aesthetic treat. The lab nuar was the best I have ever had, and served on thin-slice cucumber chips. The ribs were perfectly cooked, although the green curry was slightly overbearing. I can't adequately describe how attractive the plating of each dish was. The food is clearly not authentic Thai, but I am grateful for that. Real Thai is not great, in my opinion, but Kittichai has adapted the better elements of Thai cuisine into clever fusion dishes. This restaurant is a mandatory stop for anyone looking for a deliciously creative takes on Thai classics, beautifully executed.

So already when I entered I thought ,"WOAH!" All the smooth light is extremly comfortable and the design equals to a very asian climate. The food was awesome and delicious. The only problem though probably is the time.I waited for about 1 and a half hours for my food.. :S

I visit Thailand twice a year &don't expect western restaurants to get it perfect, I have many favourite Thai restaurants from top restaurants to Thai cafes. Kittichai seemed ideal from the reviews we read. We found the bar pleasant, staff friendly, decor beautiful but thats where it ends. I ordered the Lemongrass stuffed chicken, the food arrived late, the Chicken was dark pink in the centre, I was advised this was because it was stuffed just 2hours after consuming a third of the Chicken, I spent the whole night vomiting. I went to the Pharmacy to the GP I was told straight away it was the Chicken as this is what was arriving in the vomit. This ruined 2/5 days in NYC. My partner called the restaurant to report this & was advised a manager would call back. They didn't & after the fifth call the manager spoke with us, she said I quote "no you couldn't have got poisoning from here...What did you have? That's not good, can I offer compensation? (we were hopeful until) We offer a free bite to eat". This almost ruined my 25th Birthday! Stay Away from Kittichai!!!

The food was the best part of my birthday. We made reservations last minute. They accomodated us. It was me and my date. The hostess, was very nice. She seated us near the enterance. It was nice because we could see the bar and relax on a couch. We asked the hostess for recommendations and she was right! We had the eggplant with fried shrimp. Order it! We also ordered the sliced tuna with noodles. The hostess smirked when I ordered an appletini, so if you have never tired something new, then try a new drink here. The experience is refreshing. I live in upstate New York, so the music was refreshing for a change. They played chill lounge music. My favorite! My date was not worried about price, so that helps! Have a gr8 time! Go there for your b-day!

I went here last Saturday with three of my friends and we all though the experience was fabulous. The negative reviews about the service is off, our servers were excellent- attentive, quick to bring our drinks and even joking with us through out the night. The tuna tartar appetizer was one of the best I have had as was the banana blossom and artichoke salad. Both are a definite must. I didn’t eat a main dish but one of my friends had the hanger steak and the other had the rib eye and both pretty much licked their plates. You know about men and their meat. The only dish that was not good was the organic chicken- it was over cooked and dry. Do not order that. The portions were definitely NOT small as others have commented. The two appetizers were enough for four people to share and the main dishes were just the right size. If you want big food, go to Cheesecake Factory! Overall, this place has the right combination for NYC: good food, chic décor and filled with uber fancy and beautiful people. I would go back and I would highly recommend.

Kittichai really is more than a meal, it is a total sensory experience. The waiters are not only super friendly, they are attentive as well. My main dish came in a huge golden bowl, and my side of chinese broccoli (fabulous) came in an oblong dish. As I was eating, a lady walked over, arranged my plates in front of me to better accomodate my space, smiled, and walked away. I had also asked for a side of sriracha, and the waiter brought me a dish with three different spicy red sauces (one of which was sriracha) - all of which were fabulous. I was using my silverwear to ladel it out, and another man walked over and placed an adorable, smaller spoon in the dish - again with no words, just a smile. The service was amazing throughout the meal, the wine and food suggestions perfect, and to be honest - you just can't beat the decor. Definitely worth a visit, and I will certainly be going back. A great date spot, for sure.

The restaurant is definitely a scene. Good drinks, cool bar. The staff however, have way too much attitude. And although the food is generally well prepared, for these prices, well prepared is simply not good enough! There are too many entrees that are made with the same sauce - the Snapper, Curry Chicken and the Duck. You would never guess that from carefully reading the menu - in fact you would expect it to be very different. And we were not advised by our waiter to try different dishes to get a variety of tastes. The portions are also very small and occasionally spoilt with an inappropriate dollop of mayonaise - it doesn't work with Thai food! I was definitely under-impressed by all but the scene. Won't be back on my own tab unless its to hang out at the bar.
