THE BEST IN HAITIAN CUISINE IN NYC

VERY proud to say this place has not only the best food, with all dishes coming to the table cooked to order.....they offer a LIVE band on Fridays and Sundays - And BY FAR, some of the BEST service I have ever had from ANY Haitian Resturant - I am addicted to their food now and know each of the sweet women on a first name basis - The Fritat is great!....NIce Sampler if your NOT Haitian and arent familiar with the other dishes.... (Updated: And I am just reading this terrible review underneath mine and I am saddened that THAT person had a bad experience ONE time, seeing that they ARE HAITIAN themselves - I would figure they would have given them another chance, the women there are so particular about your satisfaction, that they literally sit down with you while you eat to make sure you are pleased with the food ;-)) Id def give them another shot if I were u before I shot them down to the entire public who may never get a chance to experience true Haitian Cuisine in Brooklyn

We went for dinner while on vacation; I had heard good things online and we decided to check it out. We can't say enough good things about the food. I had the goat - it was wonderful, not at all gamey or smelly, very similar to beef in flavour, good spices, good amount of heat. It came with a bean puree which was very tasty, fried plantains and rice. Everything was great. My boyfriend had the pork Griot and it was good as well. One of the owners was working that night and she was very friendly, happy, had good energy and was cheerful without being annoying. If you are looking for a GREAT meal that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, I would suggest you go here. I only wish we could have eaten there again and tried the other dishes.

The waiters were so nice. All the dishes were good, but the fragrant cubes of lightly fried goat were really, really good. I'm not used to Caribbean spices, so I got sick afterwards, but I'd still go back.

The heart of Haiti in Brooklyn

The food at Kombit could not be more satisfying - fresh and fragrant. A traditional vegetable stew, Legume - also served with beef or conch, has layers of flavors to it. The atmosphere is comfortable and warm, and so is the service - although the service is a bit leisurely, taking the Caribbean relaxed pace to an extreme. But a few of the fun cocktails, like the Sunrise, will make you pretty relaxed too. Make sure to try the Legume, the Lambi (conch stew), and akra appetizer. And the pain patate - a heavenly warm sweet potato pudding/bread.
