I found out about Kyotofu at nymag.com and it sounded really interesting. Upon arrival, we we're immediately seated in the AWESOME back room and had the entire menu explained to us by the staff (she could tell we were newbies). The singular thing that wasn't perfect was the red snapper - it tasted a little fishy. But other than that one thing, everything was absolutely spot on. For anyone going, I recommend the Sake-infused Mac & Cheese and the Sweet potato loaf. Both of them are to die for! Honestly, this place has something for everyone. It is a very special combination of Japanese and American flavors and Kyotofu gets it right. I will definitely be going back.

Love the sweet tofu, my mom likes the chocolate cake but she's more into chocolate than I am. Also enjoyed the cheesecake, as well as the appetizers. I've pretty much enjoyed everything but my favorite appetizers are the salmon w/ rice and the inari. What I really like about this place is that their stuff tastes different...in a good way. Also, I've never been much of a tofu person, but I love the tofu dishes at kyotofu.

What a lovely little restaurant. We somehow managed to avoid all of the tofu on the menu (we had the asian pear cake and the chocolate cupcake), so maybe it does not matter how you feel about tofu after all. Both desserts were wonderful. The cupcake was soft and pretty, and creamy in the middle, but it was not too sweet. The restaurant compensates for the lack of icing on its cupcakes by putting a healthy dollop of cream on top instead. The asian pear cake was surprisingly light and moist and, like the cupcake, it was not too sweet. The space in the back (where the tables are) is just COOL; the photo on the profile does the space justice. Kyotofu is low-key, pleasant, and seductive. It was the perfect place to spend a Thursday night after work. . .

Wow! Kyotofu was a refreshing find in a city of “same ole same ole†swanky restaurants. This surprisingly delicious Japanese restaurants provided great flavor and spice to each dish I tasted. The dessert was amazing. Who new that soy and tofu could be used to create such decadent creations? On top of the outstanding cuisine, the ambiance of the restaurant was so cool that I felt like I had taken a night away from the city. Whether after work, or a weekend dinner date, Kyotofu would be the perfect place for anybody.
