My party of 3 had lunch here. The decor was charming and cozy. The soup lunch was a great deal: choice of soup, bread, house salad, drink, and dessert for $16.95. Soup choices were so interesting that it was hard to pick one. The entire experience was delicious.

La Bonne Soupe really is a neat find. When it's nice out, ask to sit on the second floor deck outside. What more could you ask for: great ambience , wonderful French food, nice glass of wine, and a nice price in a tricky area. Take your mother here when she's in town - she'll understand a little better why you live in NYC.

This is a quaint little bistro worth seeking out. It was where I first discovered Croque Monsieurs, which they have perfected and is perhaps the best made in New York. It never seems to be a problem when I ask for some bechamel sauce on the side or more of their delicious shallot vinagrette for the side salad. The consistency of the cheese fondue at times has arrived in need of more liquid however I cant complain about the taste. Its mildly flavorful and not at all sharp. The french onion soup is average and so are the desserts. I once sent back the creme caramel because it was not as fresh as it should have been. The service is quick and to the point. The manager always makes you feel welcome. I Love to bring people here for the first time because it is a special little find that keeps me coming back for more.
