Northern Italian menu highlighted by substantial portions of pasta and oven fired meats and fish. A mixed grill for two, with baby lamb chops, Italian sweet sausages and a daily fish. A generous, vegetable antipasto includes zucchini, mushrooms, sundried tomatoes, cauliflower, fennel, smoked mozzarella and proscioutto, or rosy, tender beef carpaccio, piled with peppery arugula and misted with lemon. The best part of the experience, however, goes back to those windows, with their advantageous people-watching and the delicious satisfaction of finally being on the inside looking out. La Focaccia is really the best Italian Ristorante destination. Highly recommended! — Delfine Ristorante La Foccacia (212) 675-3754 51 Bank St W 4th, West Village, manhattan, New York City, 10014-2144

Incredibly tapered white candles at the window make this an evocative storefront spot, which is known, of course, for its focaccia baked in a wood-burning brick oven. There are tiled tables and flat Italian baking pans hung on the walls and several seasonal specialties. The focaccia cheese pie is made from an old traditional recipe, and follow that with an artichoke salad and penne with vodka sauce. Fish and meat dishes are given the brick oven treatment too, such as shrimp and calamari, and seared slices of beef with radicchio, balsamic vinegar and green peppercorn sauce. This place specializes in Italian meals. Eating & Drinking: Open for dinner. Both beer and wine are served. Notable Mention: Being a good value for your dollar. Details to Note: Entrances and walkways are wheelchair friendly. Ways to Pay: Cash, MasterCard, Visa and American Express

After scouring Greenwich Village - which is absolutely gorgeous - we found this litle place on the cnr of Bank West 4th. It has a real style to it: a small place, with couch seats along the wall and the decor on the walls, it had a really nice feel to it. This is some of the best Italian food I've had in a long time! They have homemade pastas, and real Italian crusty bread. The others in the party were also delighted with their dishes, and we all had pasta, so I would definitely recommend coming through here! Plus, it was extremely reasonably priced, especially for Greenwich! The service was also prompt and friendly, and our waiter suggested an excellent complimentary wine! We received the bill promptly, the meals took barely 20 minutes to come out, and they cleaned the table before we had to ask. Excellent!!! Two thumbs up! If you like good Italian, I would certainly recommend this little gem! Pros: Food was excellent, especially the homemade pasta; decor was nice; prompt and friendly service; waiter suggested an excellent wine.

I've been to this restaurant twice and was impressed both times. The first visit was with a friend who lived in Italy and said it was the most authentic Italian food she's had in the states! The restaurant is small, romantic, and in a beautiful area of the village. Try the penne vodka - you won't be disappointed! Their food is to die for. Do not miss this restaurant!!

What a find. The food is excellent. Homemade Pastas, smokey flavored bread, and great wine list. The atmosphere is vintage, laid back, and fun.

The low-carb craze hasn't stopped a loyal fan base from patronizing this warm and cozy West Village dining spot, easily identified by the inviting long-tapered candles flickering in its windows at night. In addition to the terrific titular bread, which comes with a variety of toppings, the limited menu offers basic Italian fare with some contemporary twists. Start with a salad of sharp goat cheese, roasted red peppers, and smoked Italian bacon on a bed of frisee, and follow it with herb ravioli in a creamy walnut sauce. The brick oven is responsible for tantalizing chicken, lamb, steak, and seafood entrees, most of them priced under $20. Service is outstanding, possibly because the owner is usually in the house, attentively catering to everyone's needs.

One of my favorite restaurants of all time. I have been eating here since 1995. i like the sausage and polenta. The area itself reflects a heavily European influence that reminds New Yorkers of the all world appeal that the greatest city on earth makes available to residents and vistors alike.
