This place is one of the best keep secrets in Greenpoint. The food is outstanding. The service is excellent. I had dinner there over the weekend and sea scallops were fresh and cooked perfectly. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. Its worth it and its a B.Y.O.B.

I really love this place. I've been there for brunch and dinner, with all different types of people, and everyone always raves. It's the place I bring people who are visiting, and I never have a bad experience. Even my food-snobby parents loved it, and they always want to go back when they visit. The mussels are delicious (change every day), the lamb and beef are fantastic, and the devils on horseback and stuffed mushrooms are amazing. My brother said the lamb is the best he's had. Oh, and even the vegetarian entree is awesome (which usually isn't). The inconspicuous exterior and the remote location are all part of the charm. The only complaint I have is that they never answer their phone.

I have lived within spitting distance of Lamb and Jaffy for over a year. Thick worn, wooden doors and always-closed drapes warn off many potential customers. There is no chance of seeing inside from the street, something that drastically hurts this joint. While the food may be good, the owners of Lamb and Jaffy are doing the restaurant a disservice by concealing its interior. The complete lack of street presence may be an approach that works in more well travelled areas, where foot traffic is greater and convenience overcomes convention, but not on Manhattan Ave and Eagle street. There is a tiny "LJ" monogrammed stain glass window and well worn clap board outside. I could almost guarantee this eatery would see a double in walk-ins if they replaced their completely concealed facade with something lighter, windows to the inside, and a more recognizable sign. At very least, a $20 can of white paint and ditching the heavy drapes could dramatically impact the place. Without change, I see this place going the way of a former fav "The Williamsburg Cafe"...if people don't know it is a restaurant, it will never do well.

I never write reviews, but this experience was so terrible, I couldn't not speak up. The menu looked great - but unfortunately what we received was totally disappointing. the coffee was cold. we should have just left when we discovered that the muffins brought to our table were without a doubt from a box mix (you know, with those little blue dots that are considered "blueberries"). my frittata was overcooked - more like hard-baked eggs with caked-on dried herbs and one stalk of asparagus. tasteless. the pancake was completely black on one side and served with thick, imitation syrup. (i cannot believe a chef would ever send something so clearly burned out of the kitchen. shameful.) the huevos rancheros were a sad, sad sight, but edible. now, maybe dinner there is great, but i would rather a bowl of cereal than brunch there again.

Although Lamb & Jaffy has been open and serving some of Greenpoint's very best food for over three years it should be pointed out that unlike any other option for solid, yet to be disappointing, and delicious cuisine in the G-point, is that L&J changes more than half of its menu each season. While chef DePrima keeps his tasty standards year around, like the buttery skirt steak, with the change of every season he offers new and creative appetizers and entrees such as Monkfish & Cioppino or Roasted Cornish Game Hen with Sausage and Cherry Stuffing. L&J also hosts the best brunch in the G-point.

So far this place is two for two. On my first trip I had the scallops, which were amazing, and on the second trip the skirt steak was just as good, plus the Potatoes Gratin were probably the best Potatoes Gratin I have had. The cheese plate makes an excellent desert and the prices are extremely reasonable (BYOB makes dinner out even more affordable). The service was excellent, and although the food does come out pretty slow it is worth the wait. It certainly is not a place to go if you are in a hurry. As much as I love showing off all of the of cheap Polish joints in my neighborhood, this this is my go-to restaurant from now on whenever I bring anyone out in Greenpoint.

...and I only say that because even though I've been there multiple times this summer, I've never seen anyone seated in the spare, but charmingly rustic interior. When it comes to the food, I hear the word "rich" uttered everytime I'm there. The duck is spectacular. The banana foster doesn't fall short on the rum. This is a restaurant for folks with a strong palette who can handle alot of flavor. Good service. Good value. I suggest avoiding the seared scallops entree in drenched in almond butter. As delicious as it sounds, I found it inedible because they couldn't go easy on drowning the scallops in the tartly lemon flavor of the butter. Good wine selection.
