Bloomberg!

Guys. This place literally shares a wall with Bloomberg building; where else can I leave the table during a meal to check a bloomberg terminal feet away! As if that weren't enough, the food is excellent. Oystars/caviar/smoked salmon/tuna tartare are delicious to start, black bass/dover sole as main. I like to come here for business dinners/lunch. Some folks find it a bit formal/stuffy, but if I wanted to wade through discarded peanut shells, I'd eat at the Texas Roadhouse.* ================================================================= *This is for illustrative purposes only. For the avoidance of doubt, I would never actually eat there.

Past its prime - go elsewhere

Maybe they need new management - or just to be put out of business, but it seems the service and simply HOW THEY TREAT DINERS has gone WAY DOWNHILL recently. The food seems quite boring, and the service is quite inattentive for this type of restaurant. Additionally, it seems the dining rooms have become somewhat segregated, with the casual area dominated by Asian diners, and the main restaurant area much less so... People will catch on sooner or later; they are not as dumb as management seems to think they are.

Mother's Day Brunch..May 12, 2013

I found the restaurant to be more subdued than the previous space...the wait staff could use a little course in filling water glasses, bringing extra coffee, cleaning up dirty dishes and glasses on the table, warming creme for milk, and get away from packet sugars and use sugar cubes..so much more class..that is what we are going for here right? The kitchen could be run more efficient....some plates come out hot, some just warm...Coffee needs to be HOT not warm...you are french correct? I enjoyed the new space..like the old space better but this is fine...just need to fine tune somethings and it would be worth the price and the stars....

Talented New Chef and Exquisite Food and Service!

I dined at Le Cirque several times since Chef Olivier Reginensi came aboard in January 2012 and he deserves to be better known. Many chefs have lauded his culinary creations and for good reason. His modern take on the classic Lobster Salad is the best I've ever had and the lamb for two, chicken, duck and skate dishes are also superb and gorgeously presented. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable and have always made me and my guests feel special. I don't understand how anyone could give it a bad review except perhaps they were from before he took over the kitchen. I strongly encourage everyone to visit this legendary restaurant whether for lunch, dinner, special occasion or foodie exploration, it will be a memorable dining experience. A must-visit for anyone in NYC!

Bad, Bad Service. Ok Food.

I ate here for Restaurant Week. I have to concur with the other reviewers that the wait staff makes you feel inferior because you're there for Restaurant Week (why does the restaurant participate then?) And if that's the same type of service you get normally, then I suggest staying away. The servers were invasive and graceless rather than striking that beautiful balance between too much attention and too little. All four of us felt very rushed and condescended to. The restaurant's attitude evokes that of its pampered and stretched Upper East Side clientele. Some of the food was great. Some, like the duck, was quite frankly disgusting (although one of my dining companions liked it.) I thought going in that it is the kind of place I wouldn't go to normally and now I know that for sure.

We had an 8:45 reservation and got there 5 minutes early. Maitre was extremely rude telling us to wait at the bar and have a drink (saying that we were "a bit early"). Staff at the bar was extremely unprofessional -- one of the bartenders was actually having a few drinks, talking and laughing unpleasantly loud and literally pounding the bar counter while talking with a couple he seemed to know (is this supposed to be some kind of college pub???). When we said we were just waiting for our table and wouldn't have any drinks, the attitude was even worse: the bartender took away from us the olives and nuts they leave on the bar counter, and started his own snack... 45 minutes after that we were seated, no apologies, and the bad service just continued. At the end they added a 20% gratuity to the check, although that was not mentioned on the menu or anywhere else. When questioned, the waiter just said it was customary and walked away. Great incentive for good service... The shame is that the food was actually really good. Superb appetizers (escargot and foie gras ravioli) and main courses (duck and rack of lamb). Never going back though...

Previous Le Cirque was much better, now this is just a bad choice. We got dirty plate with brown stain; unflavored & undercooked pork; dessert was a disaster; pretty bad service; we asked for bread, never came; the waitress did not come to check on the food or offer more wine... overall, try somewhere else, there are plenty good ones out there.

Poor service, average food at best. The waiter never came to check on food or offer more wine. One dish arrived in a plate with unknown brown stain on the edge. Not s top notch restaurant as it once was.

We arrived 5 minutes early for an 8PM reservation... The hostess vaguely motioned toward the bar before walking away, apparently distracted, leaving other guests to stand in line, looking lost and confused. We stood in the bar section for 40 minutes where we were repeatedly told to 'wait' and 'have a drink'... at 8.40PM (not sure what the point was of making a reservation) we were brusquely escorted to our table and presented with a menu -- no mention or any indication given about the restaurant week menu... Interestingly, however, once I flagged down a server (eye contact seems to be intentionally avoided by all wait staff) I didn't even need to say a word - the restaurant week menu was promptly proffered… All agreed that the papardelle (appetizer) was amazing and the fondant (dessert) well done. The bavette was relatively ordinary, but the scallops were good. Overall, the meal was unspectacular and the service was a joke – totally non existent. Le Cirque provides an entertaining view of 'aging New York' at its overly-tanned and bleached-blonde finest, but otherwise, it is not worth the visit.
