My mistake I guess but I was wearing Polo Black cardigan and had to cover it up with Cheap JCP 99.99 sport coat which did not help to enjoy the dining experience. We did a tasting menu paired with wines. The food was very good but plates were very small. The service was very attentive. Decor was old and sort of glam 80's. My only question is why did I leave hungry after spending well over $600 for two?

I sent three partners and a client to this restaurant and was embarrassed to even admit that I would recommend it to anyone. They are completely anal about a stupid reservation confirmation form that they are not competent enough to download from an attachment on an e-mail nor are they able to check to see if they received a fax. They also cancelled my reservation after being contacted 5 times to make sure the reservation was arranged. Very poor customer service, go to a deli instead. The service is bad from the general manager down to the reservations department. Awful experience I would never recommend this restaurant to anyone. You would think they would bend over backwards considering the economy but I guess they canÂ’t help themselves.

The potions are small, but top-tier. They're meticulously blended with just the right sauce, seasoning, and accents. Beginning and advance foodies alike will appreciate the dishes Le Bernardin has to offer. This is most certainly a great place for you to try something new and "exotic," because the chefs there prepare every dish with such precision, that even the most conservative diner might open up to the prospect of perhaps, (gasp) octopus!
Re: Value? Small portions, but phenomenal across the board.
The decor could use some work, as it's nothing to marvel at and is frankly, somewhat dated.
I do agree that the service borders on hovering, but patrons should take into account that that is part of what you're paying for.
Overall, once of my most enjoyable fine dining experiences in the city.

Best Wine Match with Tasting Menu

I have never had a better wine pairing with a tasting menu any where. I had been looking forward to eating at La Bernardin and finally made it. Since it was a birthday celebration we decided to take the wine pairing with the tasting menu. It was one of the most interesting wine experience I ever had. They have one of the greatest Sommelier in the city. It wasn't cheap, but the memory of the taste of those wines was priceless. Wonderful service and food.

Mr. Ripert is as good as it gets when it comes to preparing fish. I can assure you, the only thing that will let you down about this restaurant is your bank statement the following month.
Everything was served with great precision and care. Go for the red snapper and tuna over foie gras... wow...
An experience to remember if you can afford it... or, if you really want to treat yourself

Going to Le Bernardin is an experience, to say the least. The restaurant has, without a doubt, the best fish in the city. The servers are attentive, professional, and courteous, but not overbearing. Moreover, while the restaurant exemplifies French dining at its finest, the surroundings to not convey the typical haughty pretension of a fine French restaurant. This is truly one of the best restaurants in Manhattan.

The hushed tones of big business being done and won can make lunch at Le Bernardin a powerful experience. But I love it for the warm greetings, the creative, impeccably prepared food, the impressive atmosphere and artwork, and the kind and graceful service. As a young-ish woman, sometimes Le Bernardin feels so proper, it makes me want to misbehave. I've been known to sheepishly smuggle Madelines and other sweets out of the building.

This is by far the best restaurant I've been to in NY. Not only do they have superb service, but the food is to die for. The crabcakes and wasabi hamachi were mouth-wateringly delicious!

The crabcake appetizer was amazing. The tuna is excellent. The kobe beef is the best I've had. Skip the lobster.
The service was excellent...particularly the sommelier.

I'd have to agree that Le Bernarding is probably one of the finest restaurants in New York. We did the Chef's Tasting menu with the wine pairings. The food was perfect, the wine matches were spot-on, and the service was flawless and nearly unparalleled in New York. Despite the formality of the place, the staff was warm and accomadating. The only complaint I could possibly muster is that the room can be a little loud as a result of the high ceilings.
