First time in my life this has happened. I nearly swallowed the cockroach in my coffee. Could not believe it. Neither could the waiter! I had a guest with me from out of town, and it was terrible!I have been going there since it opened and have not had any complaints until now.

I went to the one on Madison Ave with friends and the atmosphere was very open despite the close seating arrangment. The rustic cafe feel complimented the natural, organic dishes. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, organic meal.

Worse Service in N-Y

Had dinner @ the restaurant on 65th St. My 8yr old son's order never came and the rest of the service was awful!!! The restaurant is understaffed and terribly managed. Children's food should be ordered first and as fast as possible. It was a terrible experience to have dinner at a restaurant and then have to go somewhere else (thank god for Starbucks!) to buy my son a sandwich. Definetly our worse experience during our holiday in New-York!!!

"Give us this day our daily bread." It was a simple request.

My girlfriend and I recently popped into Le Pain Quotidien on Broadway near Union Square for a coffee and a croissant. What we got was a stuffy host who refused to let us just buy a cup of coffee like every other coffee-selling establishment in the city, instead insisting that in order to sit down we must have a waiter take our order. We were in a hurry and didn't wish to linger. The waiter arrived five minutes later, and our coffee came in two pots, from which we had to pour the contents into our little bowls. This is how they do things in France, apparently. We didn't want a whole pot of coffee, nor did we have time to drink it, and so we had to transfer the remains into paper to-go cups. They then had the gaul (get it?) to charge us $11 for the experience. All we wanted was a cup of coffee and a croissant. We should've stuck to Dunkin' Donuts, or Au Bon Pain. Don't you just hate it when the US (and UK) take the best things from Europe and somehow succeed in making them crap?

Every morsel I've eaten here has qualified as nothing but scrumptious. Fresh organic ingredients combined with creative flair, make everything from soup to bread to salads interesting to the palatte and beautiful to the eye.
We go there whenever we can and each time it's a treat.

Cheap, cheerful and really rather fresh food (especially the range of croissants etc) for the price. Pretty hard to go wrong here, especially if popping in just for a coffee and a light dish.

Though the prices are high at The Pain Quotidien, the food is very decent. The sandwiches and soups are great because of the bread. The desserts are well worth it as well. CH
