I just found out who did the walls at the restaurant and I realized that it was the same person who did Backals' restaurant, I think what he brings in the decor is wonderful, his name is Guillaume Gentet I wonder if he does private homes?

I had always walked by the Lenox room and wished it were different. Last week I got my wish. With a major transformation that apparently is over a year old (took me awhile to believe i should see it), the new and improved "Lenox" is somehow a throwback to the old days of new york. You start with the entrance, which is a fabulous turnstile glass door that romanticizes anyone who comes through it. The bar to the left is a welcoming albeit small space where you are guaranteed to see at least one familiar face from the neighborhood. The dining room is simple, but red which warms everyone and the interesting moroccan style lights throw off an exotic glow to even the most banal upper east side investment banker. The food was quite good. The menu is not too imaginative, but the entrees my guest and I had were very good and the service was friendly, prompt, yet not rushed. This is the place to go if you want a good basic meal in a comfortable yet sexy setting. The loungy area to the back looked interesting and the perfect spot to end up after your meal.
