The restaurant is in a quiet part of the Lower East Side. It is a very small restaurant, too. Getting into your seat and out can be challenging--very intimate dining--with other guests. However, the unique dishes such as the duck and escagot pie are worth the trip.
Dare I say it...it was "terrible"!

The first thing you need to know is the portions are incredibly small and pricey. The atmosphere was great, including the music. The entree, Casbah Lamb, was dissapointing and bland. The "carmalized vegetables" tasted and looked like canned carrots. The "ivory coast spiced" sauce lacked complexity and was boring like "Chef Boyardee" in the can. Overall, I was very disappointed and resented the money I payed for the "Terrible" food.
Unfortunately - Pretentious

Great food - have eaten there several times. Unfortunately awful service & an overwhelming, pretentious attitude has taken over the place. Too bad.
This place used to be nicer

... but now it's run by a bunch of thugs. No kidding: I witnessed how a group of bullies - including the tall barman with a ponytail - abused a couple of guys who were standing on their way. Things got ugly when one of the thugs threw a glass bottle to one of the guys. The reaction of the bartender? none.....actually, he went and sat with his friends and laughed about the incident. The patron hit by the bottle? well, he left. I wouldn't want that to happen to me. I will never go back.

Every time I've walked past it's been so crowded that I didn't want to brave the packed interior, but yesterday was an exception so I took the plunge.... While the portions were indeed small, as other reviewers have pointed out, I was certainly satiated afterwards. The grilled calamari was excellent, as was the chocolate cake. The other items ordered (salmon confit and a vegetable stack whose exact menu description escapes me) were good but not great. Service was acceptably quick and courteous. Any bad behavior mentioned in other reviews was entirely absent during my visit. I would certainly go back and explore the rest of the menu.
Lost Its Glamour

I was here when this place opened up and it was a lot of fun. The food was good and the drinks were great. However, it's become a pretentious place with horrible service. Mainly the bartenders are idiots and they treat the place like it's their apartment with friends coming over. It's too bad that this place has really loss its class.
do not go here

Les Attitude Terribles

I made a reservation for 10 people on Saturday night for my girlfriend's birthday and called at 5 PM that evening to confirm. We show up at 9:55 PM for our 10 PM reservation and no table. The explanation: "Look for yourself. There is a big group at your table. What can we do? Sorry." Qu'est ce quoi?
Les Enfants Terribles lives up to its name

Though the food is decent and the decor is nice, I was beyond appalled at how we were treated by the staff at this restaurant. We had a 7:30 reservation, and by 9pm they dropped the check without offering us dessert or asking if we were ready for it. We still had 3 full wine glasses and were enjoying ourselves, so we put the check aside for later. Soon after, our waiter came and told us we had to leave because he wanted to turn our table. We paid and left a 20% tip in spite of this rudeness, and moments later another server brought the check back saying we hadn't tipped enough. Unbelievable. When I pointed out that they obviously miscounted our money, there was no apology. Just a shrug and a "well then I guess it's enough." Beyond outrageous. I will never go back there again.
