Not a Place for Wine Lovers

The design and decor of Lever House has been one of its calling cards. The entrance via a Star Trek like tunnel permits the guest to transition from the streets of Manhattan to something that is either the future, or what the future was to look like in the 1950's. Clearly the tables/booths along the left side and at the rear are the preferred seating. The endless row of two-tops along the right side is depressing. The contemporary American menu presents the diner a small but interesting selection of choices which are far more appetizing than the descriptions. There are prix fix menus in addition to the ala cart menu. The execution of Executive Chef - Dan Silverman's kitchen is outstanding, and rivals the best in Manhattan. The wine list while comprehensive is priced very high and it was a clear sign that the house still desires expense accounts types and not real food and wine lovers. So if you love interesting and well prepared modern American cuisine in a unique environment go to Lever House. However, if you are a wine lover, go elsewhere.

Have never had a apple martini so good. Mod space and design is amazing. Too noisy though & lots of business or Madison ave attire. Waiter was extremely friendly but bar patrons had something up their...

Love at First Sight

What a sexy restaurant! Amazing design, beautiful people. I saw Heidi Klum and Seal on one side, one of the "Queer Eye for a Straight Guy"s on the other. Yet I felt like I was getting the "star treatment". The chef here obviously has confidence in his product. Its quality shined in every dish I tasted - sweet scallops, the best pork chop ever, langoustines so fresh they could have crawled out to my table . The staff was fun, relaxed, knowledgable and friendly. No attitude at all. Not what I expected in a mid-town hot spot. It is definitely the coolest place I have been in a long time. Check it out

Oppresive

At first when I walked through the tunnel entrance I really like the place, the longer I was there the less I liked it. First of all the staff definitely have an attitude if they haven't read about you on page 6 recently, then there is the noise factor, it's a din at lunch. The food is nothing memorable, and it's expensive. So why would you go? I won't be back.

I felt like a star!

When I walked into the Lever House I felt like I was walking onto some movie set. The whole place is so cool in a 60's mod sort of way - and when you make your entrance down the long white tube - you become part of the glamorous scene. The food was sublime - clean, focused, of great quality. The service was among the best I've encountered - friendly knowledgable, fun. The wine list is studded with hard-to-find-treasures. Its the kind of place that is so hot, you almost expect a bit of attitude, but everyone was so darn nice...Are they putting something in the water? WOW. I can't wait to go back

Over Priced

The menu looks like it was designed for guests on an expense account, everything is priced at a premium. Although the room is unique, the atmosphere feels almost sterile. The staff was attentive. The food was tasty but over priced.
