From the quaint outside seating to the inviting staff this restaurant is now my newest favorite place to eat. Though I came with my fiance and another couple L'Impero would also be perfect for a romantic dinner, a business meeting or a special event. I can't say enough about the food - the poached Black Bass, the moist tender lamb, the soft shell crab - yum, yum and more yum! Not to mention that the chef is a true class act who seems to know just what his clientele is looking for -understated class and quality - job well done!

From one NYC Princess to the rest...you MUST go to this absolutely wonderful restaurant. From the moment you enter this beautifully decorated space everything is perfect. It is simply elegant without being stuffy. You would feel comfortable in an evening gown or jeans. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and very professional without being pretenious, (which they have every right to be). The food, in a word, sublime. I started with the Sweet Breads, then the Duck Foie Gras Agnolotti, and for a main dish I had the Orata. Each dish was flawlessly executed. Go for the prix fixe and save room for dessert. I love this place and intend to go back again and again.

Literally one of the best restaurants in the city... I haven't experienced such amazing service in a long time. Food was prepared perfectly and came out at the exact time. I would HIGHLY recommend this restaurant to anyone interested in great food, great service and a fabulous evening out.

While its architecture and interior design provides a simple but wonderful backdrop to this new and exciting restaurant, it is the cuisine that makes this restaurant shine, My hat goes off to Scott Conant (Chef) and I truly believe Scott will define and set the bench mark for new and old chefs that want to create Italian American cooking in the future. My experince was nothing short of an extraordinary sense of privilege.

I just love this restaurant. Every taste is bursting with flavor. Scott Conant does everything right. The only criticism I have is that the banquettes are low -- so I always request a table with chairs instead of banquettes. And I've always been accommodated. I can't wait to go back again.

I wish I could eat here every night! It was a wonderful experience and I was very pleased. I took family guests from out of town and they were very impressed. The staff is very accomodating and very friendly, but also professional. Chef Scott Conant has done an amazing job and it was nice to be able to compliment him at the door!

Impeccable service, inventive food and atmosphere to boot. I can't wait to sip an aperitif on the little outdoor terrace. Kids under 18 should not be invited!

Although the clientele appeared limited to captains of industry, we enjoyed ourselves here; our meal was extraordinary. The homemade pasta is a transcendental experience. The creative focus of this restaurant is clearly on the food -- our waitstaff was far less experienced than that of, say, esca, the comfort level of the restaurant was only fine, the bread was average. But the pasta dishes were better than any I've ever tasted. We were treated very well even though we did not order a multicourse meal.

Went to L'impero the other night, Heared that Michael White was in the Kitchen. Let me tell you this is where it's at. The grilled Pancetta, Octopus and the Baccala were all awsome, seasond just right. Then we ordered the pastas Maccheroni, Orrechiette and the Ravioli.. truely the best pastas in NYC bar none. Entrees were great as well Swordfish was nice and fresh and also MR. Desserts were nice and sesonal, cherries and the apricot were to die for. Service was very atentive. What a great deal for $64.00, best deal in NYC. Everyone needs to try it out for themselves. Truely a gem for NYC. Mario and Joe look out. 3 stars

I was absoulutely amazed at findng such an accomidating delicious restaurant in Manhattan. I honestly can't believe that anyone would find L'Impero anything but perfection.
