Went to Lombardi"s last week with our family. It was highly recomended by a friend. Being Italian we have had good pizza, the one I had at Lombardi"s would get a 5/10 from us. the doughwas good, but they killed it with tomatoe sause and put 6 slices of mozzarella on a large pizza. All I tasted was raw tomato sause. My friend didn't even try the pizza, he was grosed out by the grungy look of the restaurant. NEEDS A GOOD CLEANING and some new plates and cups. It looked like they havent changed those since 1905. Everything felt sticky.

I had relatives in from Bloomfield hills MI and wanted to take them for some great pizza. after waiting 35 mins we were seated and when our pie came out we started digging in. After 2 bites we all noticed that the pizza was under cooked. so we put the uneaten slices back and told a manager. Ten min's later he brought us back the same pie cooked with 4 single extra slices added from God knows what pie. (they don't sell by the slice). My cousin who is ex military called the manager over who by the way looks like a comedy version of a character out of Goodfellas and told him "You're an Idiot and this should be embarrassing for Americas 1st pizzeria for you to bring me a chop shopped pie, brings me my check and make sure this pie is not on it" After having a laugh at his expense we got up and left and settled for a very good pie at Bleecker st pizza in the West Village.

worst pizza in town

generally, I always try to avoid "Italian" food in town ( I I was born and raised in Italy for 29 years) but a friend convinced me that this was the very authentic pizza . I couldn't have a worse experience. The dough was bad( gommosa I would say in Italian), overcooked and way too thin ( even if you are not from Naples). The sauce is heavy and simplicity is all in a pizza; there was not mozzarella on it for sure but it looked more like pieces of plastic bag melt by chance on the pie. really disgusting. Not authentic at all and absolutely overrated. The decor is terribly fake, and the overall experience was more than disappointing, I would say irritating and there's nothing than can irritate more an Italian than bad food. would not go back , not even in the event of a famine.

We love Lombardi's pizza and go there at least once a week. There is usually a long wait, but they deliver all the way to the Seaport - Greenwich Village. You are guaranteed a wonderful pie. R.J. Masi, Masi World Construction

The most authentic Neapolitan Pizza in NY

My mother is from Naples, and I lived there for four years of my life so I know exactly what a Neapolitan pizza is supposed to taste like. Lombardi's is by far the closest to an authentic Neapolitan pizza I have had in New York. I have been to many other pizza places that claim to be authentic including Patsy's and Grimaldi's and Lombardi's is the best I have had so far. Plus, the prices are incredibly cheap, and the staff is very friendly.

Good pizza

At the end of the day, all anyone comes here for is the pizza (which is good because that's pretty much all they have on offer), and the clam pie we had was excellent. Lots and lots of clams and lemon halves for juicing over your slices. I need to go back for the more standard pizza to give the place a fair shake, though. The service was okay - our waitress was competent but not overly attentive nor helpful (when asked what to get, she offered "everyone comes here for the Gennero original, but the clam pie is really good, too"), she seemed a little distracted, too, for no reason I could see. For dessert, Rice to Riches is just a few addresses down the street.

I love pizza. So does my wife, who is Italian. Dont let any negative reviews fool you. As "tourist-y" as Lombardi's may be, it is still the best pizza you can get. I have been to NYC plenty of times, but this past weekend was the first time my wife got to experience it, and when she tasted Lombardi's pizza she about fell over, it is that good. If you're looking for typical "chain" style pizza, dont bother with Lombardi's. If you want the real deal, then this place cant be beat. The sauce alone is amazing. Combined with a great (even if flimsy) crust and fresh basil and mozzarella , it truly is an experience. This is, hands down, the BEST pizza in America.

It was my first time in NewYork and we had heard about this place. When we got there the line up was super long and people were impatient. My dad went in there, put our names down and said we were in no rush, to the waitress who was very busy. Five minutes later we got table before tons of people infront of us. The staff was really nice, the pizza was amazing, and its so cheap for the best pizza you will ever have. Also, there rootbeer tastes amazing.

On a recent trip to the Big Apple to visit family, my aunt took us to what she called, one of the greatest pizzerias in New York. She advised us there would be a line, and there was. It was PACKED. We waited somewhere around 30 minutes for a table and were seated in the basement which was decorated nicely with soft lighting, wine shelves and enjoyable artwork. We ordered water to start and a large white pizza, one of my personal favorites at any pizzeria. We didn't wait more than 20 minutes for the pizza, understandable do to the high volume of customers, but when it arrived it was beautiful. Thin, crisp crust topped with a delicious blend of Italian cheeses, herbs, garlic butter on the crust's exterior, and the kicker: tufts of whipped ricotta decorated the pie. It tasted better than it looked too. The crust light and buttery with a nice crisp and the cheeses blended perfectly. After this experience, I urge you to visit this historic pizza landmark. You'll be glad you did.
