I love taking people to Lugo for the first time and watching their eyes widen as two softball sized meatballs are set down in front of them. The sauce is so good that I get every last bit with the house made foccacia. It's the place to be for happy hour or pre-Knicks, so if you want a quieter dinner, make your reservation after 7. The service is friendly and professional without being intimidating. I challenge you to save room for dessert. You'll be happy you did.

I had such a great experience here for an early dinner today, my friends and I sat in the patio outside and had a spectacular meal! We ordered the mozzarella sampler, which was just a melt-in-your-mouth delicious hunk of cheese, the meatball appetizer (so good, good portions), and the spaghetti, the braised short ribs (tender and juicy with a sweet and savory glaze), and the Lugo Pork Shank (amazing, you must try this). All in all, this is my go to spot when I'm in the area. If you're a frequent penn station commuter, or you're heading to a MSG game/show, this is the spot! You won't regret it

Lugo is my standby restaurant for great food, drinks and atmosphere whenever I or anyone in my party are coming or going through Penn Station. The location could not be more convenient and time and again this place has been delicious, delightful and downright perfect in a neighborhood that is starved for good options for dinner despite the immense traffic through the area. Their pizzas never disappoint, but the highlight is always the housemade mozzarella and antipasti. Comprehensive wine and Italian beer list, delicious handmade pastas, and let's not forget the light filled rooms and gorgeous outdoor eating spaces.

I had a 7:00pm reservation and walked in at 6:45pm. The hostess said we have a few tables paying, come back and check with us in 15 minutes. Ok, no problem. Came back at 7:00, and the same exact line, we have a table paying right now, it won't be long. By 7:15 I went over again, and she gave me the same line. Frustrating, but II'm willing to let the service and food turn my opinion. No such luck. The waiter was rude and snoody. I ordered a salad with an $11 shrimp add on, not realizing that would only include 4 pieces of shrimp. Definitely overpriced for the portion. Oh, and the floor manager was wearing uggs for crying out loud! Need less to say, I am a concierge and I will not be recommending my guests to Lugo Cafe.

I went to Lugo Caffe with a group of people for a celebratory lunch. I wanted chicken parm but because it was so hot outside I ended up getting the caprese salad with grilled chicken and it was a good decision on my part. I thought having grilled chicken would mean a few pieces scattered on top of the salad, but instead they covered my plate with the chicken and put the caprese salad on top. Definitely a nice surprise. Someone else at the table ordered the veal and the piece I had was simply amazing. For dessert, I had gelatto and I wouldn't get it again--nothing special about it. In any case, the main dishes were great and I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Ate here for lunch recently with friends from work. All 3 of us got sick afterwards. Knocking each other over as we run for the bathroom sick. Food was overpriced and rancid. I spoke with the manager the next day and he was rude and arrogant about the whole thing. He basicly told me that it was absolutely impossible that food from his restuarant could make anyone sick. I knew he was totally full of it when he said that Lugo's ownership manages 10 restaurants and my complaint was their first ever. My advice- stay away!
