A little bit of courtesy can go a long way

My wife and I arrived at the rather shabby exterior of the diner at about 3:55 pm, unaware that the joint closes at 4pm on Sundays. We asked for some takeout and the host with beautiful eyes accommodated us with nice service and a pleasant conversational manner. The diner was emptying out for closing, so there wasn't the craziness of a bustling overcrowded eatery. This may explain the time she took with us. The takeout was delicious. We look forward to another visit. An absolutely inspired menu and very reasonable prices.

The experience for me was a totally positive one, and I found the host and hostess (owners, too) to be extremely friendly and creative with their offerings. Great food, incredible wait staff, and a definitley different kind of experience! Can't wait to go back over and over! I've already recommended this place to many friends!
A "Diner" Well Worth the Trip to LIC

The food here is really fantastic. Extremely creative and unique takes on common diner food. I ordered the special for the day, which was salmon with creme freche, caviar, and a pie crust stuffed with potatoes. Sounds ridiculous, but was incredibly tasty and comforting. Beef tartare was also great. It seems folks are complaining about the service but you have to consider where you're dining. This isn't Le Bernadin, it's a hipster diner in LIC staffed by twenty somethings covered in tattoos. Our waitress was friendly and helpful explaining the menu. I imagine if the place is crowded the seating might get a little frustrating, but if you know what to expect before going you can forget about service and appreciate the excellent quality food. Also, the place is literally on top of the 7 subway entrance so it incredibly convenient.
HORRIBLE HOST - SARAH

We went there once on a day when a guy was the host. He was nice, food was decent. We went back on a day when Sarah, the owner was the host. She was absolutely rude and horrible. We left after 1.5 hours of waiting. We will never return, we will not ever give them a penny of our business again, and we will make sure all our friends and anyone who is willing to listen not to go. The other reviews about how absolutely rude and terrible she is is true! Even the food is not worth it.
Innovative food, Disgraceful Host & Owner!

I don't normally post negative reviews, especially about service, but after reading KateLIC's review I feel like I have to agree with her. We arrived late and were greeted with such passivity that we almost walked out right away, but decided to wait around for a table as my friend was in a knee brace and its not like there are many options around there. Since he couldn't sit at the bar we sat at the two chairs by the door and wait for a table. We tried to order a drink but the hostess gave us absolutely no attention. I finally went to the bar to order our drinks and waited 15 minutes while she helped everyone else around her. I asked her three times for our drinks. If she felt it wasn't her job to be responsible for us, why did she even bother taking our order? 30 minutes later our table opened up and we were anxious to sit down. I approached the hostess once again and asked if we could head to the table only to receive the following response, "I'm actually talking to someone right now, if you haven't noticed, so one of my wait staff will clear the table in a minute and seat you." I found out later that she is the CO OWNER. Girl, if you expect people to travel to LIC for your attitude and lack of hospitality, you have another thing coming. I would not recommend anyone make the trek as long as she is greeting people at the door. I would hate to think about how she treats her poor staff if this is how she treats her guests.
Best Breakfast Sandwich I've Had In a While

I tried one of their breakfast sandwiches their while on vacation and man was it huge! Not only that but it's just packed with so much flavor. I highly recommend the sausage egg and cheese with jalapenos. It's amazing! If I do go back to Long Island, I will be coming back here for another monster breakfast sandwich.

Really fantastic, fresh, innovative food is served here, and the service has been excellent so far, which is impressive considering they have only been open a month or so. I can't wait for the expanded hours!!!

Thanks for bringing a delightful, affordable change of pace to the City, wrapped in delicious homemade sausage, perfectly poached eggs, and pickled tongue. Biscuits made with real lard and a crust on the cherry pie this non fan of crust ate every bite of. Looking forward to being back and seeing what the dinner menu has to offer. Keep it up M. Wells!!
