In short, it was a disappointment. We waited an hour and fifteen minutes past our reservation time without a peep from the hostess or manager. When we inquired about it the manager/owner was belligerent. When we were finally seated the food and service was plain bad. Waiters with an attitude and food that was either over or undercooked. Overall, a terrible experience and I would not recommend it to others.

It may bill itself as a steakhouse but it's much more than that as its menu is sure to satisfy everyone. They even serve duck Italian style so go with a group and come late in the evening as this place doesn't get hopping until 8PM!

We've been here three times and had a great meal each time. Key is to get there early, before 7pm. Best dishes are duck, steak, and sauteed mushrooms side dish. Apple Strudel is good too. The waiters do have a bit of attitude but if you arrive before the crowd they will give you good service. Occasionally a celebrity is spotted (we saw Larry David's tv wife from Curb Your Enthusiasm there recently)Not cheap price but good quality food.

Equanimity absent from the scorecard on this little west side summer-time gem, the queen orders a restoration of the balance to the scales of justice. Sit outside, order a bottle of cold white wine, soak up the good looking women. Life's not too bad.

We called and ordered dinner for delivery and waited an hour for it to arrive. Finally, we called the restaurant to inquire. The man who answered the phone was extremely rude, saying that the delivery boy could not find the apartment and that it was now too late to deliver. The manager, Sergio, was equally rude and said it was our fault because we had not given the cross street to our apartment (we had, in fact, given it approx. 3 times). They would do nothing to to help the situation and did not care in the least that we had just waited an hour for a dinner that never came. I strongly discourage giving this restaurant any sort of business when it is very clear that they 1) are complete imbeciles that are not capable of taking an address down correctly, 2) do not have the good grace to admit to a mistake and try to amend it, and 3) do not care about their customers.

Unfotunately we were unable to try the food. We booked our anniversary dinner, it snowed, we went, they had closed, they said sorry but it was our fault for not confirming (they had our number) Did they offer anything to make up for our disappointment? apparently that's not their way. I guess Italian hospitality stops at the front door of the Macelleria.
