NYC has 35,000 restaurants and bars - and I have decided that there will be no way I could try each and every one of them out during my lifetime. So, I've decided to narrow down my choices by going to spots that are known to have great food AND great service. I've grown tired of fancy, well-known restaurants with pretentious servers. Market Table has great food AND great service. Our server and host were friendly and attentive - but not in an overwhelming manner. I appreciated their patience and their willingness to help us decide on our food. The food was nicely seasoned. Our entrees were huge and delicious; and their sides were to die for - please please PLEASE get their cauliflower, broccoli and sweet corn sides. You will not regret it. My chicken was moist, and my friends' skate wing and arctic char were beautifully prepared. The skate wing was definitely a surprise - the sauce was amazing. I cannot WAIT to go back there again. In fact, I'm going back next Sunday!

Probably one of my favourite restaurants in the Village. -Atmosphere: laid back and not at all snobby. I liked that the crowd was very mixed: young couples, families, children, 20-something hipsters, etc. -Food: their fish and meat dishes are all perfectly cooked. Some of the dishes were a bit on the salty side but overall, fresh and flavorful dishes, and good sized portions. -Service: the host was really sweet and our waitress was attentive and very kind. the staff makes you feel very comfortable there.

I recently had the pleasure of popping into this West Village eatery for a late brunch and boy was I wowed. The restaurant is simply but appealingly decorated with big windows that let in alot of natural light, great for brunch. The staff is very friendly and attentive but le piece de resistance was the delicious cheeseburger I ordered. Top notch sirloin cooked perfectly, topped with white cheddar and caramelized onions with tomato, pickles and lettuce on the side. Since I cant quite describe how juicy it was let me explain it like this...I usually top my burgers with a squirt each of ketchup & mustard. In this case the waiter forgot to bring my condiments so I just started in on it. He later came by to ask me if I wanted Ketchup, I did, but only for my fries! Speaking of the fries, they were really good too, crisp, well salted and topped with fresh herbs, a perfect companion to the burger. I wasn't that hungry when I sat down but I quite literally stuffed myself.

This is a restaurant that needs to win a James Beard award. Phenomenal food, service and atmosphere. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes to eat. The food is friendly to the average person, but satisfying for a foodie. A true must eat.
