What can I say. I never even got to my entree. Staff forgot to place my order. I know, it happens sometimes. But considering that the appetizer/entree menu is only 4 items. It did bother me. I did have a potato omelet as an appetizer that I order. Staff approached me with a cheese plate to the table after 25+ minutes of waiting for the entree as an apology. After I finish the cheese plate, and waited another 25+ minutes. I figured that I was wasting my time and decided to cancel the order.

A two-hour wait on a Monday night is not unusual. Don't miss: Brick-Chicken, the Bowl of Olives, Chocolate Tart, and the daily crostini. If you adored the food, pick up a copy of Diner Journal, which logs the local, seasonal recipes being used by Marlow and their sistering restaurant Diner (right next door). Ignore the service. Pay close attention to Caroline Fidanza, the brilliant mind behind the menu.

Always excellent wine and cheese selection plus oysters available by the piece equals pure heaven. The chicken liver pate is always great. I the staff is polite and professional. Also a good place for coffee and snacks in the daytime during the weekend. Stickiest sticky buns ever. Chef Sean, bring back the Rabbit Burger. I NEED IT TO LIVE.

Although locals might decry calling Marlow & Sons a "destination", my friends and I have, on multiple occasions now, biked over the Williamsburg bridge with the express purpose of getting our hands on the fresh, deliciously briny oysters, thoughtful cocktails, and inventive green-market-based specials at this wonderful spot. It sounds ostentatious to say that we've discovered a gem, but that's how we feel every time we've gone. The service is always phenomenal, the servers are as knowledgeable and technically proficient as they are prepossessing and unpretentious, resulting in a meal that feels as if one of your close friends decided to whip you up some ramp puree, a locally-grown and exquisitely dressed dandelion salad, and a perfectly executed old fashioned. With friends like those...you might never want to bike back.

Look, I've enjoyed countless meals at Diner the Siamese twin eatery next door since they've opened. The service has always been quirky but nevertheless informed. But, at M&Sons they have cultivated a kind of aloof, arrogant attitude that I can't say I've ever come across. From the moment you enter and are not acknowledged, you feel as if you are interrupting a private moment among the staff. I'm in the business for ten years, so is my girlfriend, we eat out a lot. We are accustomed to casual service, but these people act like they're doing you a favor. I've been here three times, each time progressively worse. There are too many other GOOD restaurants/wine bars to go to, to drink Rosenthal wines and eat Jasper Hill cheese where you don't have to suffer insultingly unattentive and cold service.
