The restaurant review I had read was extremely generous. The first odd thing I noticed was that the prix-fixe menu( which I did order). Every item on he menu had ramps! Ramps with smoked fish, ramps with tartare, ramps with lamb... It felt as though I was watching an Iron Chef episode. But no, because on the Iron Chef, the chefs would have found different and creative ways to use the ingredient according to the dish. At Mas, the ramps all tasted the same. Don't get me wrong I think ramps are delicious ramps - and I'm a sucker for seasonal ingredients, but it was too much. In general, the dishes all tasted not quite put together - not thought out enough, or tweaked after multiple attemps to perfect a dish prior to serving it to the public... Nothing tasted quite right. perhaps even a little amateur-ish. And the desserts were awful. The wait staff was odd and surreal. Really nice, but out there - they all smiled right through you.

I went to Mas when it first opened and was so pleased I went back for my birthday dinner. It's a beautiful atmosphere. I recommend it to anyone who has knows anything about fine food and wine.

Mas lived up to the early reviews I read. Food, atmosphere and service were all fantastic and worth a return trip.

I ate at Mas the other night and had a wonderful experience. The duck entree was superb and there was not a ramp to be found on the menu. Instead, since they were in season, there were beets. But they were blended beautifully into each of the dishes and complimented the individual ingredients chosen by the chef. If you don't want to eat in a creative venue where the food is painstakingly thoughtful and the menu items brought in fresh each day then don't come to Mas. For everyone else, this place is an absolute masterpiece. Oh yeah, the wine selection was pretty damn good too and the wait staff was able to match a perfect selection with my entree. I really can't say one thing bad about Mas. I recommend it very highly.

I find Mas to be very pleasant and relaxing. The lounge/bar area is just beautiful and makes you feel like you're entering a home away from home for the evening. The wait staff is very friendly and low key and was excellent at helping me choose and enjoy wine picks that went with the food and my personal taste in wine.

Mas is perfection in service, style and food. Everything at Mas has been carefully put together to give you an aesthetically pleasing experience from the delicately painted plates, the natural wood stools in the waiting area to the music that turned slightly upbeat after 11:30 when I dined last Friday. The crowd of course matches the surrounding, but Mas is not all looks. Galen Zamarra is a chef who like a good modern dancer is clearly schooled in the finest classical tradition and so without a hitch takes you to new and exciting places. For fish lovers don’t resist his nut butter blanched tuna or anything he does with trout. My favorite dish, however, was desert; I went back the following night for a late night drink at the bar and a second helping of the Guinness icecream with chocolate on the side…a request the excellent wait staff was happy to accommodate at 1AM.

The service, food and atmosphere at Mas were truly amazing. The staff treated us like royalty. The food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful. I can't wait to go back! Congratulations on a great new venture!

This place is a joke! Ridiculously expensive & extremely unimpressive food. Some of it was downe right unedible. Service & staff are very professional though. Space is very nicely done. Everyone at my table was extremely disappointed considering the hype!

Dinner at Mas was just perfect! The food was delicious, the service was great, and the decor just beautiful. I can't wait to go back. Congratulations!

To the people who loved Mas, right on!!! To the people that had negative reviews...where did you eat???? The whole experience was NY dinning at it's best.
