If you've ever been to El Repollo Rojo in Puerto Vallarta, you'll love this contemporary take on classic fresh mexican grill cuisine. The yellow salsa is AMAZING when they have it. Margaritas are the true traditional marg- lime & Tequila, tart and dry. Alright, so it's cramped, know it, get over it. And yes, they can be pushy, but what the hell- it's a little place and they have work to do so eat, drink and be merry, and get out. enjoy the best mexican food around even though it may not always be perfectly prepared, the dishes are always well constructed dishes, both in taste and looks. Think China Grill (but a bit cheaper and mexican)

I love this place. My husband and I have been coming here for more than 5 years. Always great and polite service, consistent food. I can't comment on the authenticity because I'm not really an expert but the salsa rocks.

Space can be tough - food makes up for it

The one downside to MM is the tight quarters, which are charming but not always the most comfortable. Waiting for a table (happens often) is not easy given the small bar. The food is fantastic. The chicken burrito is unlike any that you will get at most every other mexican place in the city, the specials salsas (different every day) are always amazing, and the pork tacos are out of this world. Best Mexican I have had in NYC, and the prices are totally reasonable. Great food, great value.

this place is all about good food. 2yrs in NYC and i was still searching the city for decent mex. this place showed me i didn't even know what it was. top notch cuisine for $30 with 6 tbls makes it always packed. so i wait and afterward i don't sit sipping coffee, instead i let someone else sit down. for the whiners who say they're rushed out, don't go back, maybe i won't have to wait so long next time. if you want to chit chat with a date go to 'one if by land' if it's still there, you'll need time to relax in your chair before the bill comes.

Best mexican in the city in a little west village hole in the wall. If you go in winter be prepared to wear a coat during dinner. The food makes up for all else including occasionally significant waits

The food is ok, although inconsistent. And the margaritas are good, but that's it. The space is small to the point of ridiculous. (No, it isn't quaint, it's irritating). The biggest problem we had however, was the very bitchy hostess who gave me an earful when asked how long the wait might be! Go up the streeet to Mi Cucina - it's outstanding

Mexicana Mama is a tiny little joint that serves the best Mexican food in the city. It's true that the wait is usually kinda long, but get a beer and hang out wherever you can squeeze in...it's worth it. (P.S.: We usually get chips & salsa, beers, & entrees for 2 people, & our bill has never been higher than $40 including a big tip.)

This is a neighborhood spot that I love. The digs are VERY cramped. You sit almost on top of the person next to you and the bathroom is through the kitchen. There are long lines most nights, which means waiting outside. However, the food is great - especially the homemade guacamole. This is high end style mexican food that keeps me coming back or better yet taking out.
