The ambiance was very pleasant, and my bloody mary was spot-on. However, the steak was almost embarrassingly bad. First, it was cut about half an inch thick, making it impossible to get any kind of char without overcooking the inside. Second, mine ws indeed overcooked -- I asked for medium-rare, which is by far the most popular order in New York steakhouses, and when I cut into it it was gray through and through. They took it back, but not before making me cut into the middle to prove that it was overcooked all the way -- VERY tacky. When I got a replacement, it was correctly cooke, but had been so heavily coated in ground pepper that it made me cough (nope, I had not asked for "au poivre"). And finally, the meat itself was deeply mediocre -- sinewy, flabby, with little flavor. I could get a better steak at my local market, and I could sure as hell cook it better. Given the prices they're charging -- and how good this restaurant used to be -- they should be ashamed.

Convenient location and stunning decor courtesy of the Grand Central renovation are completely overshadowed by the terrible food. The strip sirloin was overcooked, dry and tough. Hashbrowns, the perfect compliment to a steak when they are good, were just awlful....tasteless, preformed potato patties that had all the markings of having been frozen. With so many great steak house options in the city, Michael Jordan's is clearly a waste of time and money, and that is a real shame.

The food was amazing. No doubt about it my complements to the chef. However, there seemed to be disharmony between the waitors. First someone who most certainly was in charge stood next to our table and yelled at the waitor for taking to long to put silverware on the table next wo where we were sitting. Then twenty minutes later two different waitors were yelling at each other as they were walking around. Very inappropriate for a place where people are paying alot of money to enjoy their time. Other than that the place was amazing. I would recommend it to anyone!

Best to go somewhere else for good steak. Our porterhouse was served cold, dry, no sizzling butter, very very sub-par.

The food was outstanding. We were placed in the outside section without being asked if we would like to sit inside which we could see was quite empty. I felt very slighted by that as I felt we were not good enough for the inside section. The service was so-so. We were not approached to see if everything was okay or if we needed more to drink. The wait staff needs to improve their service.

Grand Central is a nice place to eat dinner, but I've had steak that tastes like that at Outback...and I didn't have to pay $200 a person there

We were surprised how much we enjoyed this place given the other reviews. We went for the holiday lights really and because we remembered it as a great setting to have a special dinner. The big surprise was the steak, which was really fantastic. Shared the porterhouse which had melt-in-your-mouth filet mignon and very tasty strip. Creamed spinach was good, hashbrowns a little salty. Service was excellent, waiter and sommelier very friendly and knowledgeable. Overall the price is the same as any other good steakhouse in the city (e.g. Dylan Prime) and with such a fantastic location it makes a good change.

We were promptly seated but hardly welcomed at all. Got seated right next to a HUGE floor standing air con. Whats this Bangladesh or? Asked the maitre for a wine recommendation and straight he went to a 280 USD recommendation. Really sad and unprofessional. Starters were below average especially the asparagus wich were almost still frozen. Onto their famous steaks. Overdone of course (as almost always in NY) with a BLACK and BURNED thick crust on them. I really stated to the waiter the we wanted our steaks rare as they should be if you expect high quality meat but to no avail. All in all we felt sad and extremely dissapointed after spending 600$ in a classic tourist trap!!!!! Two tables next to us also seemed to have different problems both with food and service. Remarkable even when the restaurant was almost empty (no surprise). What a dissapointment!!!!!

Their prix fixe menu was good esp. when you have teenagers. A place to go when you visit the terminal.

Does Michael Jordan have a beef with his "Air" apparent? I was shocked to learn that despite the obvious marketing opportunities, Michael Jordan's Steakhouse in New York's Grand Central Station does not offer Kobe beef on its menu. Then again, there's certainly something fishy about the 10 ounce "Dolphin Francaise" offered at Shula's Steak House. Perhaps Jordan's posh dining experience isn't quite as upscale as he'd like us to believe. And perhaps MJ, ever-protective of his legacy, will never accept that Kobe beef is better than anything on his menu. http://deans-list.net
