I have only eaten at only two other other Korean restaurants. My remaining Korean Cuisine experiences have been at my friend's homes. This is the only Korean Fusion Cuisine I have tried. I have been to Moim several times. The service and décor are great. The staff always has helpful opinions&/or suggestions about the menu/specials. My personal favorites are the Soju Mojitos, (very tasty but, small), the Osso Busco is a heavenly oxtail with maple hints, there is a salad w/dried pear & fried tofu. The portions are kind of small but very tasty.

delicate food, more-than-decent service

Glass noodles, the mushroom dumplings, fish dishes, and dessert (the chocolate) were all very good - fresh, nicely flavored, and just all -around well-done. i haven't had the same terrible service experience documented here: i've been three times, and even had a server take something that wasn't to my taste back to the kitchen to modify it.

I guess since many complaints of poor service by patrons, they are now making some progress. It is not easy getting good service these days in most industries especially from new, smaller but growing businesses. Food I thought was good but my only wish was that the menu was more extensive. Everything else I thought was excellent and would most defitely visit again.

I've been here several times and the food is great. I especially like their Bibimbop, vegetable dumplings and the seafood bouillabaisse.
however, i would avoid coming here during the dinner rush because service and food can be slow. i've always had a pleasant time with friendly service when I stop in after work when it's not so crowded.

What a pleasure to have a first rated Korean place, MoiM, at the heart of Park Slope. Bi Bim Bap and Kal Bi are tastefully prepared and the smokiness of Kal Bi was exceptional. In addition, the owner/chef lives close to moim and created a space so unique that each time we go, I discover another layer of beautiful design. The service staff were very friendly and well informed about the menu. It's truly a pleasure to have found the gem near by amongst average italian, chiness, japaness and thai places. Certainly it gave an option to try Korean and MoiM is the best I had including places at K-town and Flushing.

May I please have some banchan?

Firstly, reviewers should not criticize other reviewers - Jenpu's review was his/her opinion, and, while it was a bit harsh, it was a description of his/her experience at the restaurant. That said, I also ate at Moim, and found it to be mediocre at best. Not traditional Korean cusine at all, but true "fusion" served in a beautiful, ultra-modern setting. Some dishes lacked the layered flavors you'd expect from Korean food, and others were too similar due to an overused go-chu-jang like red-pepper sauce, but many of the other items were tasty and unique. My biggest complaint, however, would be the banchan; this is the heart and soul of a true Korean dining experience, and it was sorely lacking at Moim. And, if you look at Moim's menu, you'll notice what they offer is not the "comfort food" seasoned seaweed, vegetables, dried fish and squid, but instead $5 appetizers. Since it is the only Korean restaurant in Park Slope, it will likely do well - but I'd like to see a little more of 32nd Street and a lot less of Ruby Foo's in their preparation.

I would go back for the Dak Gui alone. It was a very tasty roasted half chicken with spices. I was really surprised. Usually chicken is the safe bet in restaurants and not what makes you want to go back - well this was a great meal. My wife enjoyed the Dol Sot Bi Bim Bop (hot stone rice bowl with vegetables). It was delicious, good and spicy and something I'll order next time.
This place came highly recommended by friends and I'd recommend it too. You can tell that they are working out some of the kinks that come with being a new place (nothing major - you can just tell :) and once they find their stride it will be even better.
I would not be as reactionary as a previous reader review here (jenpu) - I had the opposite experience overall. I'll be back there again and again.

I was really excited when I heard that a Korean restaurant was coming to Park Slope... My husband and I along with few friends went last night. Great decor... They obviously spent alot of money renovating the place but the food was terrible. I can honestly say that this by far was the worst Korean food I've ever had and I've eaten Korean food all my life!! Chicken wings and pork ribs, both had very similar sauce slathered on them, had absolutely no flavor. Japchae was salty, oily and tasted chinese. Charging $4-5 for banchan is criminal. Black cod first was under cooked so we sent it back. When it returned, they slathered on more of their all purpose red pepper sauce and this time not only did it still lack any flavor, it was too tough to eat. I can go on and on but one things is for sure. I will NEVER EVER go back!
