Quick Bite with a Small Group

I came here for the first time last week with two friends. It was a Monday, and there was still about a 15-20 minute wait. When we did get seated it was at the bar/countertop, but we didn't really mind. The place was packed and loud, but if your looking to grab a fairly quick bite and get a little change of scenery, it's a good place to go. I ordered the Ginger Scallion Noodles and they were really delicious- perfect portion too. My friends and I split the pretzel-cake-ball things for dessert which were interesting; they came in a portion of three so we each had one and that was quite enough. I wouldn't have been able to eat all three as they are very rich, almost like eating salty, crunchy raw cookie dough. All in all, I would go back again if I were looking for that type of quick, easy, high-energy environment kind of night.

Went here this past Saturday evening with my lady. The only available seats are at an empty bar or a communal table. I opt to wait the 20 minutes I was told for a table for two (no big deal). We are lured into the dungeon room in the back, it's full of standing people. After 25 minutes we begin to get a bit impatient. I go up to the front and politely ask the same hostess if she knew how much longer; she didn't know and directs me to wait in the back until she sends somebody. After a few minutes a women tells us it's going to be ANOTHER 20 minutes because they're waiting for people to get up. FINALLY, after 45 minutes of standing we are directed to the front where we are offered the SAME TWO SEATS at the bar. I think to myself you must be joking, and explained that we would have sat there 45 minutes ago if we wanted to. We are sent back to the dungeon to wait some more. We sneak out the back and think aloud "go Momofuku yourselves" as we make our way to Pommes Frites.

No reservations. Nowhere to wait in the restaurant for your 45 minutes to an hour before you MIGHT be seated. Blaring music so loud you can't hear. Other hopeful and desperate patrons pushing and shoving to get to the hostess to find out "how much longer." Craning their necks, hungry and scared. Trying to be fashionable - so they can say they went there "last night." And then you are seated -- though the seats have no arms. And no backs. And it might be a bar stool. With people you don't know right next to you. And a limited menu -- which costs a lot. $10 for two pork buns? Are you OUT OF YOUR MIND? This place is absurd, obscene, and offensive. NEVER AGAIN.

the momofuku ramen is the best ramen dish i have ever had in nyc. small portion of meat, which is common at noodle spots. the bbq pork buns are amazing as well. everything else is pretty mixed. everything is overpriced. poor service. cool decor but not very comfortable. horrible service. this spot is very popular, so i recommend avoiding it during peak times if you don't like to wait. all these downsides are well worth it for consistently getting the best ramen i've had in the states that is up there with the bowls you find in japan.

I had something that the server described as spicy, believe them when they tell you that. It was very good and very satisfying even if I couldn't finish it all. My stomach was burning all night and I'm pretty sure I scarred my esophagus. It was totally worth it. The pork buns were a bit unexpected, but I will definitely be ordering them again. All in all, a great experience. Friendly staff and timely service.

I got the $30 prix fixe menu which had consisted of: a beet salad with buttermilk, shaved ham, and bouquerones - the bouguerones (kinda like sardines) was an ingenious addition; poached halibut with charred tomatoes, shiso and pearl onions, roasted quail with cherries, fennel and kohlrabi; and choc chip cake truffles, along with a side of pork buns. The pork buns blew my mind, and everything else on the menu similarly blew my mind. My only criticism is about the truffles: they were too sweet! The service is great, and for the food I got, it was worth the money! I've fallen in love with this place!

Dear Peach, I really enjoyed the time we spent together yesterday. I can't talk about the pork buns, it might get a bit misty in here. Your traditional ramen, your spicy cold noodle, your delicious tamales, you made my Sunday all it could be. I miss you when we're not together. Hope to see you soon. B

I've been there three times but never enjoyed their noodles. I like the Foie Gras appetier very much. The chicke wings are ok, but you can find them at any Japanese restaurants. Pork buns are also ok, but i prefer Ippudo's. If you like good ramen noodle, i would recommend Ippudo the same amount, same price but tastes 10 times better but wait is 10 times longer but worth it. also some Japanese restaurants, Japanese owend, have ramens, and usually they are pretty good. Service is always nice there. everybody is very sweet. They serve food with perfect timing, and water glass is never been empty.

Had the special ramen...but they really only have 1 choice. It was mediocre at best...and probably some of the worst ramen that I've had at a place that is known for it. If you want overpriced, unworthy and zero flavor ramen/soup...then by all means...head over, wait in line for about 20 minutes, and enjoy the worst ramen in New York City.
