Jazz Meets Best Korean Fried Chicken in East Village!

Jazz Meets Best Korean Fried Chicken in East Village! To someone who loves Jazz and vintage like me, this place is just AMAZING! We can feel the groove anytime because they play Jazz everyday. Live performance takes place every night, and it's always filled with crowds. The best part is of course their seasoned Fried Chicken!! It's so crispy outside but tender and juicy inside. It goes well with both their beer selection (allagash is my favorite one) and special soju samplers (beautifully decorated Infused soju drinks which are very fresh and soft). Edamame and Mango salad are great as an appetizer, and Yuzu Seabass and Galbi Skewer are delicious! Interior, ambiance, food, and staffs are all fantastic, highly recommended :)

Good food, fun place - inattentive staff

Group of 4 of us got a great table top in the dead center of the old Jeollado garage - it's really lovely to be inside there. Especially as an old school DJ myself whose own place has these wonderfully culled archives of vinyl on the wall. We ordered the fried chicken early, we were warned it could take awhile (and they were right). Shored up that order with several of the tapas including Bulgogi Ssam (incredible, but only 3 small lettuce wraps - $12), Salmon Ceviche (good, but didn't need the creamy sauce on top) and the Tuna Tataki (this was the best thing we ordered). There was also an order of sauteed glass noodles (with beef, we think - can't find it now). The only have a license for beer and wine but get around that by mixing mojitos and martinis with Soju - and it kind of works. Except that they only had 1 bartender, which on this not-too-busy Wednesday night meant about a 12-15 minute wait for a drink order. They forgot 1 drink from our first round and did nothing to rush its replacement - another 12-15 min. Yes, I'm complaining a bit, but we did feel ignored - we never got the "is everything ok?" or "Can we bring you anything else?" The table behind us often waved their hands to get someone's attention. All in all, good food in a fun place that suffers due to inattentive and possible overwhelmed staff. We'll go back, but not for awhile.

We hit this place up after a day of rooftop drinking etc, and it couldn't have been much better. Food was awesome (fried chicken is exceptional... we ordered a combo of spicy and soy garlic, and bulgogi buns came in warm, fresh bun with a perfect texture and were unbelievably tasty), vibe was perfect (dark, spacious), music was sick (uptempo and experimental jazz e.g. herbie hancock head hunters, MMW, jamiroquai, all with solid bass, loud but not conversation-inhibiting). Would be great for having a party, or, as in our case, keeping the party rolling through dinner. Scantily clad NYU girls ftw. Didn't know about selecting music, didn't see anyone doing that while we were there, but the DJ was doing a pretty damn good job on his own. Also, at one point my friend asked the waiter what was playing, and the waiter climbed up the ladder to the DJ booth (which is sort of suspended over the back of the main dining room) and asked him, then came back to the table and filled us in. pretty cool of him.
