Good food, nice ambience. Stay away from the flank steak!

We came just after seeing Jersey Boys matinee; sat outside on a corner, and had a ball with our funny, sassy, Italian waiter, sipping Chianti and sampling various salads, pastas, seafood and desserts for 2-3 hours without feeling hurried once. I had so much fun. Would absolutely go back again!
I had a wonderful pasta with a mixed greens and pears salad; my husband had a seafood assortment, and our friends had a bring you to your knees lasagne. Thank you Morandi for a fabulous memorable night!

Ok, so the place is uber-trendy. On a rainy Wednesday night groups of girls packaged in silk strapless dresses and sky-high hills try to walk the walk to impress god knows who, and guys sit in loud groups, eyeing the surroundings looking to start a conversation. But even the scene does not derogate from this place - it's lively and crowded, the hosts are helpful and our server was charming (there were some breadcrumbs in my water glass and the server replaced it without me asking for him to do so). The food is very nice too, freshly made pastas, salads are fresh and the bread is piping hot. The all-Italian wine list is quite short but satisfying, ordering a carafe is a good option if you want more than one glass and can't finish a bottle. All in all, we had a good time and will come back.

Wonderful Meal! Went with my cousin who is a devoted regular at Morandi. Despite having to speak rather loudly to each other to be heard, the food was absolutely fantastic. Between 4 of us, we had the Branzino, the Osso Buco (Fantastic) and the giant steak, fried artichoke, antipasto, and the wonderfully light Tiramisu, it was one of the best restaurant meals that I had in a long time. The service was impeccable, very attentive to our every need. We were apprehensive having read past reviews by New York Magazine staffers who apparently have to have their taste buds checked!! Or are just not very good at what they do! But then neither were Jan & Michael Stern!! Which is why they no longer work for the Hartford Courant. Judging b y the crowd at Morandi's on a Wednesday night, no one is phased by reviews written by a batch of culinary amateurs. Time to go back to school kids and sharpen your eating skills. The only drawback we could see is the lack of good acoustics that make it impossible to have an intimate conversation. But the wonderful meal was worth every cent or minor inconvenience.

The skate cioppino and bread were so good, nothing could reallly spoil this meal. Very, very nice. Excellent wine selection at a reasonable price. Overall a very safe bet.

I went there for Sunday Brunch, and was immediately impressed. The decor was great, and i really felt like i was in some other country. The menu was interesting, very 'simple' foods, but done well, although the prices were a bit high. The whole experience was very nice though, i will definitely be back. Great for one of those days you feel like splurging just a little bit, enough to feel like your really having brunch and not just eating the same cheap food at the local diner. The vibe just made it all worth it, the music the lighting, the raw brick walls all just came together with the food and the scene to make it a good Brunch.

Though the food and the scene at Morandi remain a constant draw to this Waverly eatery, the average New Yorker may feel slighted. While celebrities, fashionistas and captains of finance hold court at the tables with ample leg room, the "lesser" Manhattanittes may object to tiny amounts of space and an abundance of attitude (and little attention) from the master of the hall.
Even still, I will be back.

Why would anyone care to give them any business when there's so much attitude with their staffs? especially their Manager! Please don't eat there. Walk down 7th ave and there's Centro Vinoteca with much better deco and friendlier staffs.

We had the family in for the holiday weekend and so our large group tried almost everything on the menu and shared family style. Every dish seemed to exceed the last you tasted. The captain helped with wines and his choices were unique and delicious. The service was attentive to detail and quick. They adapted a meal to accomodate a special request. By coffee time everyone was so satisfied we all swore off dessert, then ordered 12 of them, and barely a bite was left. We all agreed it was one of the best restaurant experiences each of us, have ever had ! Take a group and enjoy !
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming and beautifully decorated for the holidays.
Our favorites: pear and gorgonzolla focaccia, fried olives and artichokes, Prosciutto and fontina, blood orange and house salads, Boar ragu, meatballs, grilled sea bass, pistaccio ice cream, fruit crepe, and grapefruit confeit.
We took a party of 10 including a restaurant savy child(early evening ) and a few other well behaved children were there too.
