Morimoto was great. Other than the fact that he was accually there cutting our fish. It is the BEST raw fish i have had in the city. If you like raw fish get the sashimi combo. The fish just melts with freshness, you dont even need to use your teeth :) The cooked foods are also great. take a good look at the appitizer menu. the decor has a certain ambiance of class and the bar downstairs and the bathroom continues the brilliant decor. Ive been there multiple times, and it is always the choice when i want freshness.

Never have I eaten an expensive restaurant meal so utterly lacking in grace. The music was blaring so loudly that the diners could not hear the servers and vice versa. So they were obviously unable to provide much information or to get a sense of our happiness with the meal or any requests we had. Nor did they seem to care particularly about our experience or have respect for their diners. Food was a little oversauced and underwhelming, but was fresh and interesting. Totally miserable experience though. More like a meal delivery service in a night club than an upscale restaurant. Not special in the least considering the price.

This place was excellent. The food was extravigant, and the service was delightful.

I might have been very unlucky, but my experience at Morimoto is one that I wouldn't recommend. After waiting 40 minutes for our table - regardeless of the reservation - I have to say the appetizers were good. But we made the mistake of ordering the chefs' sushi, and nobody showed up for half an hour. After we inquired what was going on the waiter apologized and said it was going to be 10 minutes more (!). After another half hour we decided to go. They had at least the decency of not charging us.

My date and I had cocktails and several small plates in the lounge on the lower level, and it was a wonderful, romantic evening. The service was amazing and helpful - each plate was gorgeous and completely delicious. The Beef Carpaccio and Oyster Foie Gras were outstanding. For dessert, the Caramel Cinnamon Chiboust was not only beautiful and delightful to taste, but such an unexpected and enjoyable combination of textures and flavors.

We had a wonderful experience, food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent, but dinner for two cost around $800.00.

why they have tables next to a drafty fire exit. For such a nice place, it's shocking that they would seat anyone in this dingy section where, on one of the coldest nights of the year, we had to request for our coats back because we were freezing. Security kept moving in and out of the door. We all ordered soup, for obvious reasons, and found the food to be mediocre. If we do go back, we'll stick with the lounge and small plates, as sushi seems to be something they can manage to do very well.

I went to Morimoto's with my boyfriend for my birthday and I was not impressed. The downstairs bar was wonderful and I could have ate dinner there. Our table was squashed next to a wall and our waiter rushed our order. We had barely began one course when the next came out. He seemed annoyed by us being there and taking up his time. Unless you are a celebrity, do not expect high quality service! For the amount of money that we paid, I expected so much more.

Don't be fooled by the unassuming exterior - Morimoto is beyond amazing! The food is stellar (best sushi I've had in a long time; the kappa rolls had the perfect amount of wasabi INSIDE them) - my guest had a near-orgasm when he tasted the 10-hour pork kakuni. The setting was very innovative and delightful, the service was warm and attentive, and we had a very nice view of the (open) kitchen from where we were seated. I would definitely recommend Morimoto and definitely plan on returning.

I have been to Morimoto three times and the food has been awesome every time. Service is great, attentive but not rushed, and atmosphere very cheerful. We went there for dinner on a New Year's Eve and Mr. Morimoto was there himself with an apron on! Many restaurants of this price range serve miniscule portions. Not here.
