Aside from a couple of misfires (a citrus hamachi was way too sour, e.g.) it's a decent meal for the price. The decor is a little too "look how cool we are" for my taste, but I suppose there are those who will think it's oh-so-fab. While it may never be a foodie mecca - it won't replace Gramercy Tavern or Veritas anytime soon - it's probably the best alternate choice in the neighborhood for those evenings when you just don't feel like waiting an hour for a table at GT to open up.

You can tell that a lot of effort was put into this place, yet the food just isn't that special and the sound level is way to loud. Wine is forced into each dish, even where it doesn't belong. Portions are small and prices are high. If you want to spend this kind of money, there are much better places to go in Manhattan.

I loved the new location of Morrells. We walked into the crisp yet warm open space and marvelled at the creative way they store and display their many wines. The wine list is amazing and speaks for itself. It has everything you could possibly want and if it doesn't you are trying too hard to be displeased. Now, to my favorite part of any dining experience, the food. My party was very close and we all shared plates to get the most out of this extraordinary meal. My favorites were the Crisy Quail with fabulous cherries. The Rock Shrimp and Crab Ravioli had a lovely richness and melted in my mouth. And the Guinea hen was a first for me but I loved the full flavor and would eat it over chicken any day. Sadly, we did not have dessert but decided to drink the ending of our meal by trying several of Morrells dessert wines. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and give kudos to the Morrells and their great find, chef Michael Haimowitz.
