NOODLE PUDDING a great SURPRISE

Our family loves this informal lively restaurant on Henry Street. From the nice service of a loaf of Tuscan bread with EVO Oil for dipping the stage is set for a fun and delicious dining experience. Great pasta, beautiful salads, large portions. Noisy enough to feel comfortable bringing the kids. Only drawback....cash only.

Bad name, great food

Inaptly naming a restaurant is like giving your son a girl's name. Maybe the previous restaurant was named Noodle Pudding and they saved on new signage, whatever! The name should tell you something about the restaurant. In this case the owner chef is from the Italian island of Ischia, known for it's seafood dishes. So something Italian like Sapori di Ischia might be more appropriate.But once I got past my annoyance with the name I was greatly impressed with the first rate quality of the food. In Italian cooking, less is more, simpler is better and quality ingredients replace technique (read French) in assuring a great dsh. Here the chef hit the mark and everyone one of us (10) all Italian-American foodies were oohing and ahhing. Prices are very reasonable, service was attentive although the servers auction the food once it comes to the table (Who ordered the Pasta Bolognese?). This shouldn't happen in a quality restaurant. Try this place, you'll love it! P.s.: It needs some form of sound attenuation, all hard surfaces,very noisy. Would I take a date? No, my wife won't let me...

This REAL ITALIAN restaurant has many beat. From the time you're seated this place becomes special, starting with the bread & oil dip all the way to the goat chees cake. IT IS GREAT!
Change the name!

When my neighbours recommended me the 'great Italian restaurant Noodle Pudding' I was seriously worried about their knowledge of Italian cuisine. But no, it is indeed an Italian place and the pasta is exquisite. Two drawbacks: cash only and the undrinkable house red by the glass. ...and the horror of that name of course!

Noodle Pudding isn't all it's cracked up to be. Poor decor, lack of signage and mediocre service aside, the food was simply OK. The Lasagna Bolognese was dry and lacked flavor. The Linguine Puttanesca was nothing special. And the waitstaff having a tiff in the middle of the dining area (a la Gordon Ramsay in Kitchen Nightmares) certainly didn't heighten the ambience. Ciao!
Noisy, greasy, tasteless, careless service

Despite all of the warnings about the noise Noodle Pudding has gotten great reviews so my wife and I decided to give it a try. The mussels with black pepper were interesting but 6 unopened (bad) mussels are 5 too many for an appetizer. The green salad arrived without the dressing and we waited quite a while for the waitress to finally bring it, BTW when it finally arrived it was very good. The rabbit special was disappointing; dry and greasy it was accompanied by a fried polenta, which while quite crispy was also greasy and tasteless. My wife's pasta dish was at best undistinguished and the tiramisu was watery and without much taste.
Not so good anymore

Went back tonight and the service was absolutely awful. Had to ask for: bread, our second appetizer, the correction on a side, and my husband's dinner, which didn't arrive long after the dinners of the other three people at the table were half-finished. He ultimately canceled his order. It was very disappointing. One of the other entrees, was burnt at the edges yet cool. It was a sad night at what had been a really nice place

Small restaurant, lively atmosphere, Italian. If a restaurant calls itself Italian style and can deliver on a well executed tagliatelle bolognese it is usually a good indication that other dishes will also shine. They nailed it and did not disappoint on all the other dishes. Prices are reasonable so splurge on a good bottle of red.
- The best reviews give a clear sense of why you liked or disliked a restaurant, bar, or store. And that means details. Mention specifics dishes, type of crowd, pros and cons...
