WORST. MEAL. EVER.
By dashma on 6/9/2013
My wife and I decided to try something different before theater last night and thought we could not go wrong with a Jean Georges restaurant. We thought wrong. We arrived around 6 and placed our order for a kale salad and tuna tartare. The kale salad was drenched in salty Cesar dressing even though the description only reads kale and lemon. It was totally disgusting and I sent it back. The waiter was nice enough about it. the tartare was passable at best. The mess happened with our entrees. My wife ordered pasta and I ordered the miso cod. When the cod arrived, it was literally indelible. The weird sauce on top had seeped into the steamed fish and was so disgustingly salty. Even my wife tasted and said both the fish and the steamed greens on the side were like salt boats. The waiter asked if I wanted something else though at this point we were rushing for the theater. I asked how long the pork chop would take and he said no longer than 10 mins so I ordered that.20 mins later I received my chop only to cut into it and find it was completely raw on the inside! I showed the waiter and even he was shocked and said he'd put it back on the grill. At this point we were already very late so we had to leave or miss our show. I ended up leaving without eating a thing.90$ later, with my wife having only an appetizer and an entree plus pellegrino, we left furious. Be ware the salt fest that is Nougatine. We will never suggest this place or return.
go here to be treated like dirt

We went this morning for brunch, meaning to take our parents for a lovely out-of-town experience on the park. Â The maitre'd was outrageously snobby and set the tone for the service to follow. Â They got a simple order of toast wrong, and it took 20 minutes to bring the right kind. Â We had to hunt down the service staff three times to get coffee. The food was mediocre, and to top it all off, as we we wrapping up our meal and paying the bill, a waitress actually came to our table and took the placemats out from under our drinks, and even pulled the placemat out from under us as we were signing the bill to signal that it was time for us to leave. Â I have never seen this kind of immature, rude, and arrogant service, and certainly not at a restaurant of this supposed caliber. Â I will never return and would warn others to be prepared to be treated terribly if you choose to dine here.Â

This was one of our favorite restaurants, we took every out of town guest, parent, client, etc. and recommend it to everyone. This morning, we came for breakfast and were the youngest people in the restaurant by about 5 years. The waiter dropped our sausage off its plate and forgot to bring out syrup. We had nowhere to be and didn't mind the slight mishaps. That said, we were SHOCKED when the server had the AUDACITY to include a 15% gratuity in our bill! I don't know if it was because they messed up twice or because we are young (mid-20s) so they assumed we wouldn't tip, but it was completely insulting. There was nothing on the menu to suggest gratuity would be included. They screwed themselves out of a 20% tip and lost devoted customers.
I don't understand what the fuss is about...

The only redeeming quality of this restaurant is how gorgeous it is inside - truly the prettiest restaurant I've seen. However, I think they use this aspect to confuse eaters, because the food is NOT good. This is such a racket. It's overpricced, which would be fine if the food was delicious. I will never go back there, and I hope people can distinguish a stunning "posh" restaurant from GOOD food. Which is the point of dining at a renowned restaurant.

Sensational food, the best service in town, lovely atmosphere and decor. I have been several times and it's one of my favourite places in town. Perfect for after a show at Lincoln Center. A great place to take visitors.
Oh wow um hi hello there beautiful

Really, this restaurant is so, so, so delicious. My friend's mother said of the shrimp salad, "What's in this, crack cocaine?" Everything from the crispy calamari to the champagne sauce in the shrimp salad to the beef tenderloin was impeccably presented, beautifully and carefully prepared, and full of the most incredible flavors. It's fine dining at $26 (or $60 if you're like us and ordered wine)... a small price to pay for heaven on a plate. I've been back twice since my first meal last summer during Restaurant Week and I plan on going back several more times. Oh, and JG is often on site. Bonus points.

We were in NYC for the weekend with friends. We had breakfast on Sunday at Nougatine....the service was 1st rate, the ambiance of the room very comfortable, and the food was excellent. The french toast with roasted banana was to die for. My friends had pancakes (raves), waffle (wonderful) and omelette(very good). I will definitely go back to this restaurant.
Awesome prix fixe lunch!!

My boyfriend and I came here on Monday, and the lunch was incredible. We're not the fancy restaurant types, but we do love to cook and eat, and we were impressed by the incredible flavors (even the dessert was delicious). Before the food arrived my boyfriend and I were joking about how we'll probably need a magnifying glass to find the food on the plate, but the portions were generous and actually satisfying. I was also surprised at the reasonable wine prices. The hostess even made a point of noting that it was my boyfriend's birthday, which I had only mentioned in passing while making the reservation. Amazing x 10!
Excellent prix fixe lunch

Had a great lunch at Nougatine -- the prix fixe (24 bucks for two lunch courses and a dessert course). It certainly was not at the level of dinner a few paces over in the dining room of Jean-Georges, but it was a great way to have lunch and a good value as well. Recommended.
